About The Position

Texas Health and Human Services Commission is seeking experienced Software Engineer 3 / Senior Java Developers to support the SCOR BAU EI Parallel Initiative. The selected candidates will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and maintaining enterprise-level Java applications within a highly collaborative Agile environment. This role involves implementing business logic enhancements, extending reporting functionality, improving user interfaces, and supporting enterprise application maintenance activities. Candidates must possess strong backend Java development expertise along with experience in Spring-based RESTful services, SQL development, and application support. The ideal candidate will be highly skilled in full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, debugging, troubleshooting, peer reviews, and production support.

Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) using Java
  • 8+ years of experience developing applications on the J2EE platform
  • 8+ years of experience writing SQL for relational databases
  • 8+ years of experience developing RESTful web services using Spring Framework
  • 8+ years of experience with Spring AOP, transaction management, and security
  • 8+ years of experience with JUnit and Unit Testing methodologies
  • Strong experience in application maintenance, troubleshooting, and defect resolution
  • Experience supporting enterprise applications in multiple environments
  • 4+ years of experience with Angular UI Framework
  • 4+ years of experience with Crystal Reports
  • 4+ years of experience with Power BI
  • Experience in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Strong analytical and communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain enterprise Java/J2EE applications
  • Enhance and modify existing SCOR applications and business logic
  • Develop RESTful APIs and web services using Spring Framework
  • Create and optimize SQL queries for relational databases
  • Support UI enhancements and integration activities
  • Perform code reviews, unit testing, and defect resolution
  • Troubleshoot production issues and conduct root cause analysis
  • Maintain compliance with security, testing, and code coverage standards
  • Extend reporting capabilities using Crystal Reports and Power BI
  • Support deployment and maintenance activities across multiple environments
  • Participate in on-call support and after-hours activities when required
  • Prepare technical documentation and implementation artifacts
  • Collaborate with business analysts, QA teams, and technical stakeholders
