About The Position

We are seeking a Senior ITS/Traffic Engineer to join our Orlando, FL team, supporting project teams and leading ITS and Traffic Engineering tasks in Florida and nationally. In this role, you will apply your technical expertise to deliver forward-looking ITS and traffic engineering solutions for transportation clients in Florida and across the country. You will support project teams, lead defined technical tasks, contribute to design and construction-phase services, and collaborate with engineers, project managers, and clients to move projects from concept through implementation.

Requirements

  • BS and/or MS in Civil or Electrical Engineering.
  • PE License.
  • 4-10 years of ITS, Traffic Signal, Lighting, Signing, and Marking experience.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • AutoCAD or MicroStation experience.

  • IMSA Certification(s) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and review plans, drawings, specifications, and technical documents for ITS, traffic signal, lighting, signing, pavement marking, and traffic control projects.
  • Perform ITS and traffic engineering design assignments, including systems planning, concept development, technology reviews, alternatives evaluation, and requirements definition.
  • Design and support ITS systems including DMS, CCTV, traffic detection, traffic signal systems, and fiber, wireless, and related communications infrastructure.
  • Review conceptual, preliminary, and final design submittments for technical accuracy and compliance with applicable state and federal criteria, standards, and client requirements.
  • Prepare technical reports, design documentation, presentation materials, and review comments that clearly communicate recommendations and design decisions.
  • Support project delivery through task planning, production coordination, internal quality reviews, and coordination of scope, schedule, budget, deliverables, and technical reports.
  • Conduct field investigations, surveys, technical research, and cost-benefit considerations to support design decisions and project recommendations.
  • Support construction-phase services, including submittal reviews, RFIs, field coordination, testing, commissioning, systems integration, and acceptance activities.
  • Lead defined technical tasks while supporting project managers, senior technical staff, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior staff and contribute to a collaborative team environment focused on quality, responsiveness, and professional growth.
  • Support local marketing and business development activities, including proposal support and maintaining relationships with current and prospective clients.
