Sr. IT Systems Administrator, IT Applications
About The Position
SpaceX is seeking a Senior IT Systems Administrator to serve as a technical leader and subject matter expert for collaborative platforms, particularly the Atlassian suite, including Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence. The role architects and maintains integrations connecting SaaS tools, CRM, ERP, billing systems, and internal applications. The administrator designs, builds, and supports RESTful APIs, GraphQL endpoints, and webhooks, emphasizing security, reliability, data transformation, and real-time synchronization. The role also identifies automation opportunities, implements monitoring and alerting, documents solutions, and works directly with stakeholders to improve organizational efficiency. Responsibilities include leading Atlassian application upgrades in large clustered Linux environments, managing complex workflows and schemes, and mentoring others. This is a hands-on senior role requiring technical expertise in integrations and Atlassian administration, along with customer-facing and problem-solving skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related technical discipline and at least 3 years of hands-on experience designing, implementing, and managing applications in large enterprise environments; alternatively, at least 5 years of this hands-on experience in lieu of a degree.
- Experience designing and implementing API integrations using REST, GraphQL, and webhooks.
- Experience with scripting, such as Groovy, Python, or Java.
- Applicant must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. lawful permanent resident, refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

- Strong experience with scripting in Groovy, Python, or Java and SQL, especially with ScriptRunner.
- Strong experience upgrading Atlassian applications such as Jira and Confluence in a large, clustered Linux production environment.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate directly with customers and stakeholders to gather requirements, troubleshoot issues, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Create and maintain detailed technical and user-facing documentation for the internal team and end users.
- Understand how to integrate applications with one another.
- Design, build, and maintain integrations using RESTful APIs, GraphQL, and webhooks to connect SaaS platforms and internal systems.
- Integrate business applications, including CRM, ERP, and billing systems, with a focus on data mapping, transformation, and real-time synchronization.
- Identify integration opportunities that improve efficiency, automate processes, and reduce manual work through understanding of operational workflows.
- Apply API and security best practices, including authentication methods such as OAuth and API keys, error handling, and monitoring, to ensure secure, scalable, and reliable integrations.
- Integrate alerting and monitoring to ensure application and service performance and reliability.
- Support the Atlassian application stack, including Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence, and create and manage complex projects, workflows, schemes, custom fields, and security schemes.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the Atlassian stack, including Jira, Jira Service Management, and Confluence.
- Support and resolve issues with collaborative applications such as Jira and Confluence.
- Develop, test, and deploy upgrades for collaborative applications such as Jira and Confluence.
- Mentor or train other team members.
