About The Position

The Senior Director of Information Technologies is responsible for planning, designing, and implementing information systems and technologies for large and/or multiple areas of the organization. This role also involves the research, development, and application of new information system technologies to support the goals of managing and operating the organization's IT division. The position will specifically oversee and drive the Epic Beaker AP/CP multi-year implementation project, support, and ongoing operational performance, partnering with pathology, laboratory, clinical, and executive leadership to align LIS capabilities with organizational goals. The role requires ensuring compliance with CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements, managing laboratory system integrations, and establishing governance, change management, testing, and release management processes. Additionally, the Senior Director will lead large-scale projects involving laboratory transformation, workflow optimization, interoperability, and digital innovation, while also managing budgets, vendor relationships, and operational excellence initiatives.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration and/or Information Systems with course work in Computer Science or equivalent
  • 15 years of progressive information systems management experience preferably in a health care field.
  • Strong technical ability in Epic beaker implementation
  • Solid understanding of the lab operations and systems and its workings

  • Experience with the SCC to Epic beaker transformation
  • Epic Beaker Certification highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Directs the utilization of information system resources and plans, designs, and implements organization wide information systems and technologies for large and/or multiple areas of the organization.
  • Assigns and coordinates the work of Information Technologies staff, contractors and vendors.
  • Provides overall technical leadership within a structure that is consistently expanding through organization wide system development and departmental utilization of microcomputers.
  • Coordinates planning, design, implementation, and technical support of information systems, networks, and departmental applications.
  • Collaborates with the CIO in establishing organizational goals for information systems and technologies.
  • Directs the development of the Information Technologies operating budget and maintains required controls to assure compliance with budgeted expenses, resources, and staff projections.
  • Responsible for the development of organization-wide systems standards (hardware, software, network systems) policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for development and implementation of information systems disaster recovery plans.
  • Develops staff and monitor programs to support production services including staffing, standards, productivity analysis, cost factors, benefits realization, and operations processing.
  • Coordinates, develops, and executes program for continual measurement of the organizations information systems, and communication networks performance and effectiveness.
  • Ensures the provision of cost efficient information services and systems.
  • Anticipate developments in fields of information technology.
  • Write recommendations for management review of enhancements to existing systems through ongoing review.
  • Oversee and drive the Epic Beaker AP/CP multi-year implementation project, support, and ongoing operational performance.
  • Partner with pathology, laboratory, clinical, and executive leadership to align LIS capabilities with organizational goals.
  • Direct Beaker teams including analysts, manager, director and any project leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with CLIA, CAP, HIPAA, Joint Commission, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Manage laboratory system integrations including middleware, automation platforms, instruments, and external reference labs.
  • Establish and maintain governance, change management, testing, and release management processes.
  • Lead large-scale projects involving laboratory transformation, workflow optimization, interoperability, and digital innovation.
  • Develop and manage operational and capital budgets, vendor relationships, and contract negotiations.
  • Drive operational excellence through KPI monitoring, analytics, incident management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
