The Senior Investment Professional role analyzes, documents, and prepares necessary information for the closing of complex commercial real estate transactions. The Senior Investment Professional role also administers, supports and coordinates closing of real estate investments with the CML origination team, correspondents, internal and external counsel, cash administration. This role serves as a subject matter expert for real estate transactions and is leveraged by all areas within REI. As a potential people leader, this role may also be responsible for the overall performance of the team, as well as management of individual associates. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree; paralegal experience preferred
  • 10 or more years of related experience.
  • Advanced knowledge of the various loan documents related to commercial real estate and the purpose of those documents.
  • Solid understanding of basic mathematical calculations, including NOI, DSC, & LTV.
  • Very high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Solid interpersonal and negotiation skills are necessary for working with borrowers/partners and internal/external clients.
  • Must be a self-starter, proactive, and an ability to learn on the fly.
  • Possess computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, and other software as needed.
  • Diligent organizational and record keeping skills are needed for successful portfolio management and process tracking.
  • Must be a proficient writer, independent and strategic thinker, self-driven, extremely proactive and demonstrate a high business acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the closing process of new loans and modification loans for the commercial mortgage loan portfolio including coordinating the workflow among the closing staff.
  • Coordinates functions between the borrower, correspondent, counsel, and REI staff to get the loan funded or modified by the targeted date.
  • Determine proper documentation and review loan documents for accuracy prior to closing to assure that they are in agreement with the application.
  • Reviews leases, estoppels, insurance, third party reports, etc, to make sure that the terms/provisions of the documents are acceptable to Nationwide.
  • Participate on calls, in meetings and through emails in connection with the closing of each assigned loan.
  • Make appropriate updates to databases in a timely manner for the new loan or reflect the changes of the modified loan.
  • Finalize all documentation within a reasonable period of time after closing.
  • Evaluate the work of the correspondent’s closing staff and provide feedback.
  • Oversees improvements to processes, checklists, and procedures.
  • Assists Due Diligence with the audit process of servicers within targeted dates including providing proper review and documentation.
  • Manages the process for updating the standard loan documents and works closely with internal counsel.
  • Subject matter expert for the REI and assists with loan application & complex loan document negotiations, complex loan due diligence items, and insurance reviews.
  • Manages the network of regional counsel and third-party vendors including the selection process and ongoing review of each.
  • Trains new closing staff members and assists with due diligence & origination.
  • Assist in the testing process for the annual upgrade of the mortgage loan system.
  • May perform other duties as assigned from leadership with REI and or OOI.
