About The Position

The Senior Inventory Control Specialist is responsible for the organization, control, and accuracy of maintenance spare parts, materials, and consumables used throughout the facility. This role ensures maintenance technicians and production personnel have the right parts available at the right time to support safe, reliable, and cost-effective operations. The Senior Inventory Control Specialist manages inventory transactions, receives and issues materials, supports purchasing activities, maintains storeroom organization, and contributes to continuous improvement initiatives that reduce downtime and improve inventory performance. This position is based at an active mine site and requires daily onsite presence. Work conditions may include uneven terrain, climbing ladders, navigating steps, and exposure to varying weather conditions such as heat, rain, or mud. Monday - Friday onsite required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 3+ years of experience in inventory control, maintenance storeroom operations, warehousing, or a related field
  • Experience with JDE, SAP, Maximo, or similar systems
  • Forklift certification or ability to become certified
  • Experience in manufacturing, mining, processing, or industrial environment
  • Strong computer skills and experience with ERP, CMMS, or inventory management systems
  • Knowledge of industrial maintenance parts, equipment, and materials
  • Ability to read and interpret vendor catalogs, equipment manuals, and parts breakdowns
  • Strong organizational and attention-to-detail skills
  • Valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of inventory optimization and reliability practices

Responsibilities

  • Maintain accurate inventory records within JDE
  • Monitor inventory levels and reorder points to prevent stockouts and minimize excess inventory
  • Conduct cycle counts and physical inventories to ensure inventory accuracy
  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies promptly
  • Track critical spare parts and ensure appropriate stocking levels are maintained
  • Maintain accurate record of rebuildable inventory parts and communicate status updates
  • Receive, inspect, and verify incoming materials and parts for accuracy and condition
  • Organize, label, and store inventory in a clean, safe, and efficient manner
  • Aid in the issuing of materials to maintenance and operations personnel while ensuring accurate transaction recording
  • Maintain proper location control and identification of all stocked items
  • Keep the storeroom organized and ready for auditing
  • Work closely with maintenance planners, supervisors, and technicians to support planned and emergency work.
  • Identify critical spare part needs for preventive and predictive maintenance activities.
  • Assist in researching replacement parts and identifying approved alternatives when needed.
  • Support equipment reliability initiatives by maintaining accurate parts information and equipment associations.
  • Generate purchase requisitions and assist with procurement activities.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding pricing, availability, lead times, and delivery schedules.
  • Follow up on outstanding orders and expedite critical materials when necessary.
  • Help identify opportunities for cost savings through vendor negotiations, standardization, and inventory optimization.
  • Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, storeroom efficiency, and maintenance support processes.
  • Assist with inventory standardization and obsolete material reduction projects.
  • Develop and maintain documentation, procedures, and best practices.
  • Support reliability and maintenance excellence initiatives.
  • Support housekeeping and 5S initiatives within the parts room
