For over 70 years, RTX BBN Technologies (BBN) has solved challenging problems through research, exploration, development, and prototyping. BBN’s Non-Kinetic Capabilities and Technologies (NCT) team leverages computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, math, and physics to tackle customer challenges in electromagnetic warfare (EW), communications, cybersecurity, cyberspace operations, networking, and RF domains for the U.S. Department of War (DoW) and Intelligence Community (IC) customers. BBN is looking for creative, entrepreneurial, and highly motivated, scientists, engineers, and developers who want to create, contribute to, and grow cutting-edge research projects for system development, including advanced networking, offensive and defensive cyber, and EW operations.

Requirements

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience or in absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience.
The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
Experience programming in both C/C++ and Python, with experience in modern Python service development, development tools, and environments, with testing discipline for code and distributed systems.
Experience with event-driven, message-bus architectures, such as Kafka or Redpanda, as well as publish-subscribe services.
Experience with integration with third-party tooling, using REST and RPC, as well as service integration and contract discipline.
Experience with or demonstrable ability to pick up diverse technologies and concepts, such as Model Context Protocol (MCP), relational data modeling, domain-specific languages, etc.

Nice To Haves

Infrastructure-as-code, using Ansible, Kubernetes, and similar tools.
Linux system experience at both user and kernel level.
Virtualization, containers and orchestration, including hypervisors and Docker.
Experience setting up and running testbeds/integration environments, including logging, metrics, and security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
Mobile/Android platform experience, including use of Android Debug Bridge (adb), device provisioning, versioning, and images.
An understanding of or experience with cyber exploit tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs).

Responsibilities

Develop next-generation networking, cyber, and EW capabilities.
Create or investigate new types of cyber physical systems and work with both commercial and prototype hardware platforms.
Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to solve challenging problems and deliver actionable results.
Operationalize software through extensive testing, documentation, and integration with other systems.
Participate in laboratory and field tests to collect and analyze data, test new capabilities, and perform demonstrations.
Overnight travel required for certain projects.
