About The Position

Draper’s Systems Integration and Test Division is seeking an integration and test engineer to support lab operations, primarily for Draper’s Strategic Systems and Electronic Systems business areas. The role involves managing test-cell and facility operations, supporting acquisition and upgrades, coordinating maintenance and vendors, and helping ensure program milestones are met. The position requires onsite support 4–5 days per week in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The engineer will take ownership of assignments and lead tasks while tracking priorities, scope, cost, and schedule. They will derive plans, approaches, and procedures for complex integration and test problems across a program lifecycle, document assumptions, adapt to changing requirements, and contribute technical reports and presentations. They will also identify technical risks and mitigation strategies, mentor less experienced engineers, and communicate with internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field.
  • 5–7 years of experience in Systems Engineering or a relevant role.

  • Ability to balance multiple competing tasks and demands and work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Confidence presenting technical information to internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Identify program- and system-level integration and test technical risks, and develop and execute mitigation strategies.
  • Manage and control priorities, scope, schedule, and cost against baselines by monitoring program and task performance.
  • Develop, document, and teach best practices to less experienced engineers; provide mentoring and constructive feedback.
  • Maintain data sources for test-cell inventories, locations, configurations, capabilities, user manuals, drawings, tabletop drawings, and maintenance schedules.
  • Coordinate across programs to maximize lab-operations efficiency while meeting customer milestones.
  • Oversee facility surveillance, including test-cell usage data collection and failure-rate analysis.
  • Maintain sparing plans and obsolescence tracking, including critical-parts identification, minimum spare quantities, capital expenditure planning, and storage and inventory tracking.
  • Plan preventative maintenance performed by Draper and external vendors.
  • Support test-cell acquisition, upgrades, and repairs, including requirements development, facility planning, quotes, procurement coordination, installation, acceptance, and recertification.
  • Lead and manage troubleshooting efforts for test cells and generate plans of action.
  • Maintain a five-year facilities plan, including research and approved purchase and installation of capital equipment.
  • Coordinate material purchases and overflow work with external vendors.
  • Develop plans, approaches, and procedures for solving complex integration and test problems across a program lifecycle, documenting assumptions and adapting to changing requirements.
