Senior Insurance Business Analyst

Kin Insurance•St. Petersburg, FL
•$100,000 - $120,000•Remote

About The Position

We're looking for a Senior Insurance Business Analyst to help us turn insurance product decisions into systems that work exactly as intended. Kin keeps entering new states and expanding its products. Each launch, filing, and coverage change depends on clear translation between the people who design insurance products and the engineers who build them. This role sits at that intersection of insurance product development, operations, and technical delivery. It's built for someone who knows P&C insurance products deeply and asks the right questions early. You'll sit within the Project Management Organization and own the requirements lifecycle for new products, state launches, endorsements, coverage changes, forms, rating updates, and compliance requirements. You'll work across Insurance Product, Actuarial, Underwriting, Compliance, Claims, Operations, Engineering, and Tech Product to define what needs to be built and confirm it was built correctly. As your ownership grows, you'll become the go-to resource for teams that depend on accurate, implementation-ready requirements. Your work will directly shape how quickly and reliably Kin brings products to homeowners.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in a business analyst, systems analyst, or similar role, including 3+ years in P&C insurance
  • Experience translating insurance product concepts (coverages, forms, endorsements, rating structures, eligibility rules, and state variations) into structured business and functional requirements for Engineering and Tech Product
  • Working knowledge of the insurance product lifecycle and how product decisions are configured and implemented in policy administration and related systems
  • Experience producing user stories, acceptance criteria, process flows, decision tables, data mappings, and current- and future-state documentation
  • Experience partnering with Engineering or IT teams in an Agile or iterative delivery environment, including requirements clarification, UAT, and implementation validation
  • A track record of synthesizing input from multiple stakeholders into clearly documented decisions, and asking questions that surface ambiguity early
  • Experience managing requirements across multiple products, states, and concurrent initiatives at the same time

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a direct-to-consumer insurer, insurtech, or managing general agent (MGA)
  • Knowledge of policy administration systems and how rating, forms, rules, and eligibility are configured in production
  • Industry designations or coursework (CPCU, AINS, or similar)
  • Proficiency with project management or requirements tools (Jira, Confluence, Smartsheet, or similar)

Responsibilities

  • Own the requirements lifecycle for insurance product and state-configuration changes, from initial discovery through an implementation-ready handoff to Engineering and Tech Product
  • Translate business decisions on new products, insurance filings, forms, endorsements, coverages, rating algorithms, eligibility rules, and state-specific configurations into clear business requirements and functional specifications
  • Partner with Insurance Product, Actuarial, Underwriting, Compliance, Claims, Operations, Tech Product, and Engineering to gather inputs, resolve ambiguity, confirm decisions, and maintain alignment from business decision through system deployment
  • Document current-state processes and system behavior, define future-state workflows, and manage requirements changes throughout delivery
  • Identify gaps, edge cases, dependencies, compliance requirements, and downstream impacts across rating, policy administration, billing, claims, servicing, and reporting before development begins
  • Assess the customer, operational, and system impact of proposed product rules, and recommend alternative approaches when a requirement would create unnecessary friction, cost, or unintended consequences
  • Build user stories, process flows, decision tables, data mappings, and acceptance criteria that let developers build accurately, while maintaining traceability from approved decisions through implementation and testing
  • Own requirements questions during development as the primary point of contact, documenting clarifications and decisions as they're made
  • Lead UAT planning, test scenarios, business review, and the product review and beta-validation process to confirm product changes are implemented correctly before broader release
  • Drive launch readiness and repeatable delivery through process documentation, stakeholder communication, handoff guidance, and continuously improved templates, checklists, and documentation standards

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and company equity through Restricted Stock Units (RSUs), granted as part of our standard compensation package and based on role and level
  • 401(k) with company match up to 4% of eligible earnings
  • Multiple medical plan options, plus dental and vision coverage
  • Company-funded HSA contributions (based on medical plan selection)
  • Company-paid life insurance and short-term disability
  • A variety of supplemental benefit options, including long-term disability, critical illness, accident, legal, and pet insurance
  • Access to mental health support and confidential counseling resources
  • Flexible PTO for exempt employees (most employees take 15–20 days per year), plus 8 company-observed holidays
  • Paid parental leave, including up to 14 weeks at 100% pay for birthing parents and 8 weeks at 100% pay for non-birthing parents
  • Career mobility and internal growth opportunities across the organization
  • Professional development budgets for certifications, conferences, and learning available, subject to management approval
