About The Position

This role is responsible for managing insurance claims and related processes. The Senior Insurance and Claims Manager will maintain accurate files and databases, serve as a subject matter expert for various insurance programs and funds, and act as a liaison between the company and external insurance entities. The position involves overseeing the entire claims process, from initiation to resolution, with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and compliance. Additionally, the role requires identifying areas for process improvement and risk mitigation.

Requirements

  • 7-10 years of experience in commercial property and casualty insurance (with either broker or insurance carrier), or self-insured public health care company
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance and/or economics preferred or equivalent work experience
  • Insurance license preferred
  • Proficiency in insurance claims management software and systems
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other productivity tools
  • Detail Oriented - Capable of carrying out a given task with all details necessary to get the task done well
  • Team Player - Works well as a member of a group

  • Basic understanding of claims management for all lines of coverage
  • Understanding of financial implications to a company for losses and claims
  • Partnering with carriers and third-party claims administrator for loss prevention and claims management

Responsibilities

  • Maintains accurate and current files and databases
  • Manages RMIS (RisKonnect) and is subject matter expert
  • Serves as liaison between OH BWC and SP
  • Maintains SharePoint site
  • Subject matter expert for patient compensation funds
  • Participates in reconciling audits performed by insurance carriers and is familiar with large retention insurance programs across multiple lines of coverage
  • Functions as an insurance liaison, advisor and resource person for department administrators, and other personnel
  • Oversee the processing of insurance claims, ensuring that all claims are handled efficiently, accurately, and in compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Proactively manages claims from start to finish, identifying any potential issues or delays, financial implications, and ensuring timely resolution
  • Identifies area for process improvement and risk mitigation
