In this vital role you will be responsible for maintaining and calibrating instrumentation systems and performing advanced troubleshooting and maintenance activities at the Amgen Thousand Oaks site. This role supports a 24/7 GMP biopharmaceutical manufacturing operation, ensuring the reliability and compliance of critical manufacturing and utility systems. This position may support day, swing, or night shifts, including weekends and holidays, to ensure continuous site coverage. Shift differential compensation may apply for eligible off-shift assignments.

Requirements

  • High school/GED + 2 years operations, maintenance, manufacturing work experience or military experience OR Associate’s + 6 months operations, maintenance, manufacturing work experience or military experience

Nice To Haves

  • Extensive experience with instrument calibration, troubleshooting, and maintenance of process instrumentation
  • Experience supporting GMP-regulated pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical manufacturing environments
  • 2 years in a technical school setting with 4 years of hands-on experience in operations or manufacturing
  • Strong understanding of process control systems and instrumentation such as temperature, pressure, flow, level, pH, and analytical instruments
  • Experience supporting GMP utilities systems such as WFI, clean steam, compressed gases, and HVAC
  • Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills for complex instrumentation issues
  • Ability to mentor and provide technical guidance to other technicians
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams including engineering, operations, and maintenance
  • Computer skills including CMMS and electronic documentation systems
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement

Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled calibration, preventive maintenance, and corrective maintenance on instrumentation and control systems used across the site
  • Troubleshoot and repair complex instrumentation systems, and related equipment supporting manufacturing and utilities operations
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for instrumentation systems and provide advanced technical troubleshooting support
  • Ensure activities are performed safely and in compliance with cGMP requirements, regulatory standards, and site procedures
  • Strict adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), data integrity practices, and maintenance documentation requirements
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to other technicians and peers
  • Coordinate and communicate maintenance activities with system owners, operators, engineers, and key stakeholders
  • Ensure work order documentation and calibration records are completed accurately and thoroughly in the CMMS system
  • Identify equipment reliability risks, workflow interruptions, and opportunities for process improvement; recommend and assist with implementation of solutions
  • Identify opportunities to expand technical capabilities and contribute to overall team development and performance
  • Provide operational support when required, including outside normal working hours, to maintain uninterrupted 24/7 manufacturing operations
