Senior Instrumentation & Controls Engineer 2 - Nuclear

Sargent & Lundy•Chicago, IL
•$100,019 - $152,807

About The Position

This role works in a project team with engineers and designers on the design, modification, and analysis of new and existing power plant control systems, with a focus on commercial nuclear power plants. The engineer investigates, troubleshoots, and resolves electrical controls engineering issues, including digital systems design and development for PLC, DCS, HSI, networked computer systems, and control systems. The position also involves developing functional requirements and procurement specifications; designing control systems for plant equipment and processes; and assessing critical digital asset cybersecurity. The engineer participates in client meetings and site walkdowns, supports project managers and directors in delivering work on time and within budget, prepares and reviews engineering calculations, and coordinates with vendors on document reviews and purchase specifications. The role prepares technical reports and studies, independently reviews engineering work, participates in professional Communities of Practice, and mentors less experienced engineers. Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group works on nuclear engineering, design, and licensing projects, including plant life extensions and digital modernization, advanced reactor technology, small modular reactors, reactor restart projects, coal-to-nuclear conversion initiatives, and international nuclear new-build projects.
