We are seeking a Senior Construction Inspector for highway and bridge inspection projects in the Charlotte Metro area.

Requirements

  • Eight (8) years of experience in construction inspection, four (4) of which are preferred in roadway and/or bridge construction inspection.
  • Or a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution plus four (4) years of experience in roadway and/or bridge construction inspection and the ability to obtain the above qualifications in a reasonable amount of time.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • This position may require the ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • NCDOT Advanced Work Zone Safety (or Equivalent)
  • OSHA 10-hour Construction Program
  • Candidates who do not hold the above certifications will be considered based on their ability to obtain the necessary certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing reports, directing duties, and training all project inspectors
  • Traveling to various project sites to conduct inspection and testing duties
  • Following standard procedures and specifications for documentation and inspection of construction activities
  • Reading, interpreting, and ensuring compliance with construction plans, specifications, and contracts
  • Daily calculating, reporting, documenting, and communicating verbally and in writing
  • Computing quantities for items such as concrete, asphalt, steel, earthwork, drainage structures, and traffic control devices
  • Operating company vehicle, computer, and testing equipment
  • Coordinating construction progress and issues with engineers, contractors, utilities, and government officials
  • Documenting field changes and as-built plans
  • Assisting project engineer with progress payments, diaries, and material test reports
  • Working in an office or outdoor environment in varying weather conditions as required by the project type
