About The Position

In this role, you will be a part of the Transportation team, in Rome, GA. You will document all activities on site during the duration of the contract and prepare inspection reports. You will oversee, document, review, and assess contractor’s compliance with contractual requirements. You will review construction documents and drawings in order to minimize issues and to reduce the potential for extra work orders during construction. You will take accurate and detailed measurements of all work performed by the contractor to ensure accurate payments. You will assist the Project Administrator with the review of contract submissions (critical path schedules, RFI’s etc) and staff scheduling/coordination. You will attend progress meetings and provide feedback on ongoing construction and issues. You will supervise Junior Inspectors. Responsibilities include inspection and testing of soils, concrete, steel and masonry materials for road and bridge projects. Experience with GDOT construction and specifications is desired. You will be responsible for reading and interpreting drawings and specifications, observing general job safety practices, and monitoring and inspecting the Work Zone Traffic Control in accordance with contract documents. The ability to work as a team is a plus. There is a possibility of weekend and evening work as dictated by contract.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Senior Inspector on Georgia Department of Transportation projects in the Columbus, GA area.
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus (10) years of experience in construction inspection, 10 years of which shall have been in bridge/or roadway construction inspection.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector level I & II
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Inspector level I & II
  • CTQP Earthwork Inspector Level I & II.
