About The Position

Works under the general supervision of a Chief Inspector to supervise Field Inspectors, review permits for approval, and perform field inspections when required. Acts as a liaison between the Chief Inspector and Field Inspectors.

Requirements

Five (5) years of experience in mechanical construction.
Three (3) years of experience in supervising others in mechanical construction or related field.
High school diploma or possess a GED.
Valid Tennessee “Class D” Driver’s License.
Current Master Gas "A" License and current First-Class Mechanical Contractor’s License; OR Current CMC or CMC-C Tennessee State License.
Must possess the physical dexterity to access all areas during construction including, but not limited to, stooping, climbing ladders, accessing attics and walking on uneven terrain.
Ability to organize, discipline, lead and direct Field Inspectors.
Ability to make decisions and tactfully interact with disgruntled customers.
Ability to train Inspectors when required.
Ability to perform field inspections and investigations when required.
Ability to operate a computer.

Thorough understanding and knowledge of applicable related codes and ordinances.

Responsibilities

Organizes daily work, reviews and approves permits for processing.
Investigates complaints requiring supervisor approval for final determination regarding code compliance.
Monitors Field Inspectors to ensure department compliance and safety.
Reviews plans and confers with plans examiner when required for code compliance.
Acts as Chief Inspector in their absence.
Assists Chief Inspector in staff training needs.
Completes and submits inspector performance reviews.
Handles disgruntled customers and other customer service issues.
Performs other related duties as required or directed.
