Performs intermediate technical work inspecting residential dwellings, responding to citizen complaints and addressing blighted properties, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Chief Code Enforcement Officer. This job requires the ability to perform each essential function satisfactorily, with reasonable accommodations made for individuals with disabilities. The role involves receiving and responding to citizen complaints and reports, conducting investigations, explaining and correcting problems related to public health, safety, and blighting influences, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and city codes. The inspector will also assist with hazardous material removal, support architects and engineers, maintain case records, prepare reports, and may issue tickets or cut orders. A valid driver's license and the ability to drive safely are essential for daily inspection schedules over a wide geographical area.
