Solve by Talent is partnering with the University of Sydney to recruit a Senior Innovation Developer to support the delivery of key Information and Communications Technology initiatives that help shape the future of education, research, and innovation. This work spans both the critical services that keep the University running every day and the ongoing improvement of systems and experiences. With strong investment and clear direction, you’ll operate in a large and complex environment where your contribution has visible, meaningful impact across the University. You’ll collaborate across academic and professional communities to help shape a more connected and capable University, supporting teaching excellence, research impact, and student success. This senior technical role sits within the fast-paced and innovative Emerging Technology team and will lead the design, development and integration of emerging technology solutions across AI, machine learning, cloud, IoT, robotics and modern software development. You will help guide technical direction, accelerate experimentation and support responsible innovation across projects that improve student experience, research capability and University operations.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ software development experience in complex environments.
  • Strong expertise across AI, ML, cloud platforms, full-stack development or IoT.
  • Experience designing scalable, secure and maintainable software architectures.
  • Proficiency in coding and software development practices, including using languages such as Python, Java, JavaScript, React, C# or similar.
  • Exposure to cloud environments, CI/CD and agile development practices.
  • Strong judgement, curiosity and confidence balancing speed, quality, security and privacy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and delivery of AI-driven, cloud-based and IoT-enabled solutions.
  • Prototype and evaluate emerging technologies for feasibility, scalability and impact.
  • Provide technical direction across architecture, frameworks, tooling and engineering practice.
  • Integrate software solutions with analytics, data pipelines and existing ICT platforms.
  • Mentor developers and contribute to a culture of experimentation and delivery.
