About The Position

This role involves administering Windows and/or Linux server environments, virtualisation platforms, storage, and associated infrastructure services. The engineer will be responsible for monitoring availability, capacity, and performance, investigating alerts, and restoring service within agreed priority and escalation procedures. Key duties include planning and executing patching, configuration changes, hardening, and lifecycle maintenance, as well as maintaining server inventories, configuration records, operating procedures, diagrams, and technical runbooks. The position also supports incident, problem, and change management, including root-cause analysis and corrective actions, and coordinates infrastructure dependencies with various IT teams. Additionally, the role supports discovery, baseline assessment, and transition activities for on-premises and approved hosted environments, and requires participation in on-call coverage for critical infrastructure incidents.

Requirements

• Minimum 6 years of relevant infrastructure and server administration experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with Windows Server and/or enterprise Linux, Active Directory and virtualisation technologies.
• Practical knowledge of monitoring, patch management, storage, capacity planning and security hardening.
• Ability to produce clear technical documentation and work within controlled change processes.
• Experience operating hybrid on-premises and cloud environments.

Nice To Haves

• VCP, MCSE/Microsoft role-based certification, RHCSA or Server+ preferred.

Responsibilities
