About The Position

We are looking for a Senior Infrastructure Automation Engineer to join our global Infrastructure & Operations team. This is an exciting opportunity to support Moderna’s mission of delivering mRNA medicines by leading the design, build, and optimization of automation solutions across cloud, hybrid, and network infrastructure. You’ll collaborate closely with global peers, using Infrastructure-as-Code, Ansible, and Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform to improve operational consistency, reliability, and speed across enterprise environments.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
• 7+ years in infrastructure automation, cloud operations, network automation, or platform engineering roles.
• Deep hands-on experience with Ansible, Ansible Automation Platform, and Infrastructure-as-Code tooling.
• Experience leading automation work across AWS, Azure, on-premises, or hybrid infrastructure environments.
• Strong scripting experience in Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
• Strong understanding of Linux/Windows systems, networking fundamentals, APIs, source control, and operational security.

Nice To Haves

• Red Hat, AWS, Azure, Cisco, Terraform, or network automation certifications.
• Experience building or maintaining CI/CD workflows with GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitLab CI.
• Familiarity with security and compliance frameworks such as GxP, HIPAA, ISO, or NIST.
• Strong troubleshooting, documentation, mentoring, and cross-team collaboration skills.
• Experience leading infrastructure automation in life sciences or regulated environments is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, operation, and support of enterprise automation capabilities using Ansible and Ansible Automation Platform.
• Build and improve reusable automation workflows for cloud, on-premises, and network infrastructure operations.
• Troubleshoot complex automation failures across Linux, Windows, API, and network device integrations.
• Plan and execute automation-driven maintenance and compliance activities across supported platforms.
• Develop infrastructure automation using Terraform, CloudFormation, ARM templates, Bicep, and Ansible to provision and configure infrastructure.
• Create reusable automation scripts, modules, and playbooks using Python, Bash, PowerShell, or YAML.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and help mature Infrastructure-as-Code practices across cloud and hybrid environments.
• Create and support automation for network infrastructure tasks such as configuration, validation, compliance checks, and change execution.
• Integrate automation with network platforms, APIs, source control, inventory systems, and monitoring tools.
• Define and improve logging, reporting, and alerting for automation workflows to support operational visibility.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate with U.S. and global team members on automation standards, documentation, and operational enhancements.
