Senior Information Systems Analyst - Business Intelligence Specialization
About The Position
The Senior Information Systems Analyst – Business Intelligence Specialization is part of the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services (DHS) Data & Analytics Unit. The unit manages, analyzes, and interprets healthcare data to support decision-making, improve service delivery, and maintain data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance. The position develops complex data models and business intelligence solutions, and creates dashboards and reports using visualization tools such as Tableau and Business Objects. It applies data transformation, cleansing, normalization, abstraction, and inheritance concepts to deliver quality data solutions. The analyst gathers and documents user requirements for complex systems and enhancements, ensures functional and technical requirements are complete, and communicates technical topics to nontechnical audiences. The role supports enterprise reporting, in-depth analyses, and ad hoc requests using agile project management practices. It analyzes quantitative and qualitative data to identify trends and insights, produces stakeholder dashboards, visualizations, and reports, and conducts statistical analyses for program evaluation and strategic planning. The position also responds to complex data requests and helps foster data-driven decision-making across departments.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Analytics, Data Science, Information Technology/Systems, or a closely related quantitative field.
- At least 4 years of experience creating complex data models from transactional clinical and operational data for interactive business intelligence solutions.
- Experience with project management tools and templates, and with agile methodology applied to software and data product development.
- Experience developing stakeholder materials, including dashboard reports, concise presentations, and staff training materials or guides.
- At least 4 years of experience writing and optimizing Transact-SQL code.
- At least 4 years of experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau and Power BI, and use of cloud data platforms.
- Successful clearance through the Los Angeles County Live Scan process.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to translate complex data into clear strategic recommendations.
