About The Position

Serve as a technical expert for organization-wide security engineering initiatives. Develop a set of security standards and best practices for the organization and recommend security enhancements to leadership as needed. Assist in the development of strategies to respond to and recover from a security breach. Assist with data forensic capabilities, cyber security research and development, and the Information System Security Engineering (ISSE) programs. Assist users with the installation or processing of new security products and procedures. Answer questions related to information security practices and standards and address non-standard issues.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree or higher.
• Four (4) years of information systems security engineering or directly related experience.
• An equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required.
• Valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance is required.
• Knowledge of network/application firewalls, end point security, encryption, advanced malware protection, security information and event management systems and identity, credentialing, and access management.
• Ability to solve problems while learning and understanding the changing threat landscape and new industry capabilities developed to mitigate threats.
• Ability to travel at a moderate to extensive level to work assignments throughout the County.
• Knowledge of complex engineering principles and concepts.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

• One cybersecurity certification such as Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA).
• One (1) year of full-time work experience working on information security projects, cyber security threat intelligence programs or data forensic programs.
• Work experience utilizing National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST); Payment Card Industry (PCI); Healthcare Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) laws; or Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS).

Responsibilities

• Prepare recurring reports to leadership to brief security posture.
• Incorporate best practices to protect systems during the development of information system security requirements with emphasis on NIST Information Security frameworks.
• Provide general technical guidance to staff focused on engineering concepts to achieve organizational goals.
• Apply complex engineering concepts for the optimization of equipment, procedures, processes, and/or systems.
• Work collaboratively with team members, leaders, and external stakeholders to support the implementation of complex solutions.
