About The Position

This role focuses on leading Microsoft's engagement with the Defense and Intelligence Industry in the Americas. The Industry Advisor will work with senior government and industry officials on digital transformation projects, leveraging Microsoft technology. The position requires extensive industry and sales knowledge to support sales teams and partners in delivering relevant solutions and services. The advisor will build trusted relationships with key accounts and provide thought leadership in the Defense sector, including the Defense Industrial Base. A passion for the industry, significant sales leadership background, and understanding of the Defense Industry segments are essential. The role is US-based, involves up to 50% travel (occasionally global), and requires cross-functional collaboration with customer account teams, service delivery teams, and public sector/industry teams.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Health Sciences, Supply Chain, Education, Business or related field AND 3+ years customer-facing experience in operations, enterprise-level improvement program management, product management, transportation, hospitality, automotive, consumer goods, financial services, retail, management consulting, consultative selling, public sector, technology or industry-relevant equivalent management or technical work experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, Health Sciences, Supply Chain, Education, Business or related field AND 5+ years customer-facing experience in operations, enterprise-level improvement program management, product management, transportation, hospitality, automotive, consumer goods, financial services, retail, management consulting, consultative selling, public sector, technology or industry-relevant equivalent management or technical work experience OR equivalent experience.
  • Active U.S. Government Top Secret Security Clearance.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a thought leader and industry subject matter expert in digital transformation account planning for Defense, Intelligence, and the Defense Industrial Base.
  • Act as an industry advisor to executive-level business decision makers, identifying business needs and customer readiness for value propositions.
  • Help strategic customers drive digital transformation through AI, data, security, and Forward Deployed Engineering (FDE).
  • Coach and develop industry experts to engage senior leaders, shape transformation conversations, and identify FDE opportunities.
  • Connect customer ambition to Microsoft’s strategic growth motions by working across account teams, specialists, FDE teams, partners, and executives.
  • Build a high-performing team culture, drive strategic customer impact, and create repeatable industry-led growth opportunities.
  • Provide industry guidance during early opportunity engagements and engage with senior decision makers to nurture new business.
  • Initiate conversations with strategic customers to showcase the need for strategic change and determine root causes of customer problems.
  • Remove blockers and establish recovery action plans.
  • Generate demand through industry presentations and events.
