Requirements

• Valid Millwright Certification of Qualification (C of Q) 433A
• Minimum 4–5 years of post-licensure experience in an industrial maintenance environment as a licensed Millwright
• Proficient in interpreting schematics, technical manuals, and drawings, with the ability to work independently and problem-solve effectively.
• Sound problem-solving skills with the ability to resolve equipment issues efficiently, adhering to standardized procedures and safety protocols.
• Basic computer skills with the ability to use maintenance planning software and willingness to learn to execute preventative maintenance plans and work orders.
• Ability to use fabrication equipment such as lathes, grinders, and drill presses to create and repair parts, and the ability to use a variety of hand and power tools, testing equipment, and programmable controls to diagnose and repair machinery.
• Good communication skills (written and verbal) can articulate information efficiently and effectively to team members in various production-focused departments.
• Rounded interpersonal skills, enabling effective teamwork and adherence to company policies and procedures.
• Proven track record of safety, reliability, and punctuality, with the ability to meet physical job demands and create new standards for documentation and problem-solving.
• Capable of embracing diversity and equity to ensure they contribute to a respectful and inclusive workplace

Nice To Haves

• Forklift, Scissor lift, & Welding certifications are an asset.
• Experience with PLC (Programmable Logic Controllers) is an asset.
• Experience with Trumpf, Mazak, Cincinnati, and ABB Robotics is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose difficult equipment failures and provide solutions to correctly diagnose all mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, fuel, lubrication, cooling & exhaust problems and expedite their repairs, minimizing interruption to production.
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks as scheduled, including lubricating, cleaning, and other routine maintenance work on machinery.
• Inspect and examine machinery and equipment to detect irregularities and malfunctions. Systematically investigate irregularities and recommend maintenance when required. Perform spot repairs on production and facility equipment with minimal to no supervision, ensuring issues are fully resolved.
• Install and move stationary industrial machinery and mechanical equipment according to layout plans using hand tools, power tools, and lifting devices.
• Perform specialized Millwright tasks, including welding, cutting, rigging, machining, lifting, pipefitting, and plumbing tasks in accordance with provincial legislation.
• Partner with the Production Operations team to effectively escalate system issues, ensuring questions and needs are addressed in the pursuit of excellent customer service.
• Fabricate replacement parts and make repairs to existing parts using lathes, grinders, and other fabrication equipment with minimal to no supervision, with a target of zero call-back.
• Research troubleshooting procedures, installation, and equipment improvement using equipment manuals, schematics, drawings, and technical documentation.
• Maintain detailed and accurate maintenance reports and documentation using a CMMS system.
• Operate hoisting and lifting devices such as cranes, jacks, and tractors to position machinery and parts during the installation, set-up and repair of machinery.
• Assist other tradespersons, including plumbers, electricians, HVAC, and others, in troubleshooting and repairing specialized systems.
• Train, coach, and mentor the other mechanics.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and legislation, including Environmental Legislation, O. Reg 851 for Industrial Establishments, and the Occupational Health and Safety Act (with emphasis on Section 28, (1) (a)-(d), (2) (a)-(c)).
