About The Position

The Senior Industrial HVAC Technician is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems in a large manufacturing plant and facility. Must have extensive knowledge of HVAC systems and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve problems effectively, while adhering to all safety policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience working specifically with industrial or heavy commercial HVAC-R systems.
  • Universal EPA Section 608 Certification for refrigerant handling; relevant state or local mechanical/journeyman licenses where applicable.
  • Strong proficiency reading blueprints, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams, alongside experience with Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Ability to lift heavy weights (up to 50–75 lbs), climb ladders to rooftops, and work in confined spaces or awkward positions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform installation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC systems within the plant and across the facility
  • Inspecting HVAC systems and their components (e.g., heating units, building exhaust fans, ventilation units, etc.) to evaluate condition, identify necessary repairs and recommend preventive maintenance
  • Diagnosing and repairing faults in HVAC systems and their components
  • Perform routine servicing, overhauls, and preventative maintenance on industrial chillers, large boilers, cooling towers, and complex air handlers.
  • Installing new HVAC systems and equipment in accordance with safety regulations and manufacturer specifications
  • Troubleshoot advanced electrical and mechanical malfunctions using specialized diagnostic equipment.
  • Performing routine preventive maintenance to ensure that HVAC systems operate efficiently
  • Assessing the work performed by contractors to ensure that it is in line with detailed specifications and high safety standards
  • Log service orders, track parts usage, and manage computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Ordering and maintaining inventory of HVAC supplies and equipment
  • Provide guidance, technical support, and safety oversight to apprentices and junior technicians.
  • Ensure all work adheres to EPA refrigerant regulations, OSHA guidelines, and local building codes.
  • Inspect and test systems to verify compliance with plans and specifications and to detect and locate malfunctions.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  • Prepare reports and documentation for all service work and inspections.
  • Recommend modifications to systems as needed.
  • Stay current with the latest developments in the HVAC industry.
