About The Position

Under general direction, this role involves building, installing, and troubleshooting electrical wiring systems, electronic components, hardware, and equipment with a focus on quality and timeliness for special-purpose machinery, robotic work cells, and factory automation projects. Employees are responsible for working safely and reporting any health, safety, or environmental concerns. This position requires adherence to all health and safety rules and procedures, including the proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) such as voltage-rated gloves and 100% cotton, long-sleeve shirts when working on live panels due to arc flash and shock hazards. Specific PPE requirements are identified on ARC Flash and Shock Hazard Warning Labels.

Requirements

  • A Certificate of Qualification as an Industrial Electrician, a Construction and Maintenance Electrician or equivalent certifications from other Provinces or Countries.
  • Completion of a Certificate of Apprenticeship and Certificate of Qualification in the above-mentioned trades.
  • Proven demonstration of skills outlined in the Specific Responsibilities will qualify you for the Senior Electrician position.

  • Ability to assemble and assist in testing activities related to construction of CSA B51 and CSA N285.0 pressure boundary components within the ATS Certificate of Authorization.
  • Ability to strictly follow CSA N285/NQA Quality requirements as defined within the manual and procedures.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites as required for installation and re-integration of systems.
  • Ability to ensure that all business activities are performed with the highest ethical standards and in compliance with the ATS Code of Business Conduct.
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Responsibilities

  • Builds, installs, and troubleshoots electrical wiring systems, electronic components, hardware, and equipment for special-purpose machinery, robotic work cells, and factory automation projects.
  • Adheres to all health and safety rules and procedures.
  • Works in compliance with divisional health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Refrains from removing or altering safety devices or guarding unless hazardous energies are controlled through lockout-tag out methods.
  • Reports any unsafe conditions or acts, defects in equipment or protective devices.
  • Ensures required protective equipment is used for assigned tasks.
  • Attends all required health, safety, and environmental training.
  • Reports and assists in investigating accidents/incidents.
  • Refrains from engaging in unsafe conduct.
  • Runs medium to large projects with medium to high complexity.
  • Supports Group Leader as a right hand and fills in temporarily in their absence.
  • Leads a team and pushes medium to large projects, or programs cell/station with medium to high complexity successfully to completion.
  • Takes direction from the Manager, Electrical Assembly and/or the designated Lead Electrician.
  • Uses electrical design package and customer specifications to plan and coordinate work for assembling and wiring control panels, HMIs, and other sub-assemblies.
  • Uses the MRP system to check parts availability.
  • Performs panel wiring, cell wiring, and system wiring, including installation of conduits and wireways.
  • Reports issues regarding workmanship or design to the Lead Electrician or Manager, Electrical Assembly.
  • Ensures print updates are completed and rework is properly recorded.
  • Determines power requirements for projects and installs bus plugs, conduits, and cord drops to transformers and/or directly to control panel disconnects, following OHSC rules and regulations.
  • Performs power up and electrical testing and troubleshooting of control systems using established procedures.
  • Repairs and/or replaces defective components of the system as required.
  • Works with the engineering team in concept development of medium to large projects with medium to highly complexity and provides labor estimates.
  • Works with the electrical team, project managers, customers, designers, toolmakers, and programmers to solve problems.
  • Assists in providing status of completion information to maintain Project Status Sheets.
  • Participates in tear down and shipping of equipment, dismantling in an orderly fashion.
  • Travels as required to customer job sites.
  • Acts as an ambassador for ATS at customer sites, providing quick and efficient installation.
