About The Position

Union Electric Steel Corporation, a recognized world leader in the supply of cast and forged hardened steel rolls for the steel and aluminum industries is seeking an Electrician for our Carnegie, Pa manufacturing plant. This is an hourly position in a unionized setting and applicants must be willing to work rotating shifts and weekends as required. Electricians will perform complicated maintenance, installation and repair work on electrical circuits, power distribution, motors, generators, control panels and various other equipment within the plant. Electricians must be able to use soldering equipment, test equipment, multimeters, portable power tools and hand tools common to the trade. Electricians will be exposed to machinery such as cranes AC and DC, electrical and gas furnaces, grinders, milling machines and lathes. In addition to Motors, generators, circuit breakers, transformers and all types of wire, conduit switches and electrical controls. Works from verbal or written instructions, samples, sketches or diagrams, to repair, maintain or install electrical equipment. Read and / or create electrical diagrams and / or sketches. Analyzes breakdown or power failures, finds source of trouble, plans work procedures, selects proper tools and materials to be used and proceeds with the work with limited supervision. Performs and assists in mechanical repairs associated with electrical work on various types of equipment. Performs installation and repair work on electrical control devices. Operates cranes as required. Follows all safety regulations and good work practices such as cleanliness, care of tools and equipment. Requirements

  • Journeyman electrician papers through an accredited journeyman program such as that provided by the IBEW or similar accredited journeyman program.
  • Or Associates degree in electrical technology or comparable degree from an accredited school or college.
  • At least 2 years of industrial electrical experience.
  • Self-employment is not acceptable.
  • Applicants will be asked to pass an electrical written test.
  • Willing to work rotating shifts and weekends as required.
