About The Position

The Senior Individual Philanthropy Officer (SIPO) will play a central role in helping The Asia Foundation (TAF) grow and strengthen its individual giving program. This position will report to the Director of Individual Philanthropy and will manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects while also supporting donor engagement strategy, fundraising communications, events, and team operations. This is an ideal position for a relationship-driven fundraiser who is equally comfortable cultivating donors, writing compelling donor communications, coordinating high-touch events, and using data to help drive fundraising strategy. The SIPO will work collaboratively across teams to deepen donor engagement, support fundraising priorities, and help build a more robust, relationship-centered philanthropy program. This position offers the opportunity to help shape and grow a relationship-centered individual philanthropy program that supports meaningful, long-term impact across the region. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 5-10 years of experience in nonprofit fundraising, major gifts, donor engagement, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated success managing donor relationships and soliciting gifts, including experience securing five- and/or six-figure commitments.
  • Strong writing, storytelling, and donor communication skills.
  • Experience supporting donor events, cultivation activities, or fundraising campaigns.
  • Experience with fundraising databases and CRM systems, preferably Raiser’s Edge.
  • Ability to analyze fundraising data, manage donor pipelines, and support forecasting.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Collaborative and proactive work style with strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel domestically and internationally, as needed.

  • Knowledge and experience with international development, global affairs, or related sectors, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and grow a portfolio of major donors and prospects using moves management, raising five- and six-figure gifts.
  • Support the Director of Individual Philanthropy in developing individualized engagement and solicitation strategies aligned with donor interests and TAF’s priorities.
  • Conduct donor meetings, virtual briefings, cultivation events, and follow-up activities.
  • Support the identification and cultivation of new major donor prospects.
  • Track donor activity, pipeline movement, and next steps in the CRM (Raiser’s Edge).
  • Facilitate creation of donor-facing communications, including proposals, stewardship reports, newsletters, and other donor messaging as needed.
  • Translate complex programmatic work into compelling donor-centered narratives.
  • Help ensure consistency in donor communications and messaging in line with TAF’s brand guidelines and style.
  • Coordinate and support the planning and execution of donor engagement opportunities and fundraising events including virtual and small-/large-scale events.
  • Coordinate and track event logistics including budgets, invitations, registrations, messaging, and follow-up.
  • Support stewardship and cultivation strategies connected to events and donor experiences.
  • Utilize donor data and fundraising metrics to support strategy development, donor segmentation, forecasting, and pipeline management.
  • Maintain accurate donor records and engagement tracking within CRM to ensure data integrity.
  • Collaborate with the Individual Philanthropy & Data Officer to prepare donor and fundraising reports, dashboards, and analytics to support decision-making and fundraising effectiveness.
  • Support departmental operations and project management needs, as needed.
  • Identify opportunities to improve systems, workflows, and donor engagement processes.
  • Collaborate with program teams to gather stories, data, and programmatic updates that support fundraising priorities.
  • Participate in fundraising planning discussions and contribute to broader individual philanthropy strategy development.
  • Represent TAF professionally with donors, partners, and external stakeholders.
  • Other duties as assigned.
