About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant – Income Audit to join our Finance team. This position plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of daily revenue reporting while supporting the resort's financial operations across lodging, food & beverage, retail, recreation, spa, and golf. Position Summary The Staff Accountant – Income Audit is responsible for auditing and reconciling daily resort revenues, ensuring compliance with accounting policies and internal controls, and assisting with month-end close activities. This position works closely with Front Office, Food & Beverage, Spa, Golf, Retail, and other operational departments to verify transactions and identify discrepancies before financial reporting. Beyond daily audit, the role owns core cash, banking, and credit card reconciliations and provides cross-functional support to the wider accounting team, offering strong exposure across the full accounting cycle.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
1–3 years of accounting experience; hospitality or hotel accounting experience preferred.
Previous income audit experience is a plus.
Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Experience with hotel PMS, POS, and ERP/accounting software preferred.
Experience with bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliation.
Familiarity with credit card / merchant settlement reconciliation and general cashier or cash-handling controls.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Hospitality, resort, or hotel accounting experience.
Knowledge of hotel night audit and income audit processes.
Experience with Opera PMS, Micros POS, or similar hospitality systems.
Familiarity with month-end close and balance sheet reconciliations.
Experience reconciling high-volume credit card and merchant settlements (e.g., Shift4, American Express).
Exposure to accounts payable and/or accounts receivable processes.

Responsibilities

Audit and reconcile daily revenue from all resort outlets, including Rooms, Food & Beverage, Banquets, Spa, Golf, Retail, Recreation, and other revenue centers.
Verify that all revenues have been accurately recorded and posted.
Review daily reports from the Property Management System (PMS), Point-of-Sale (POS), and other operating systems.
Investigate and resolve discrepancies with department leaders.
Prepare and distribute daily revenue and management reports.
Review house accounts, complimentary transactions, rebates, and adjustments for proper authorization.
Assist with balance sheet reconciliations and general ledger entries.
Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
Perform monthly bank reconciliations for the resort's operating and depository accounts, researching and clearing outstanding and reconciling items on a timely basis.
Reconcile daily credit card batches and merchant settlements — including card processor (e.g., Shift4) and American Express activity — to bank deposits, resolving timing differences, chargebacks, and refund/return timing gaps.
Oversee general cashier accounting, including daily deposit verification, house bank audits, cash over/short tracking, due-backs, and petty cash reconciliation.
Reconcile cash clearing, deposit-in-transit, and related balance sheet accounts, following up on unmatched or aged items.
Maintain clear supporting schedules and audit trails for all cash, banking, and card reconciliations.
Ensure compliance with company accounting policies and internal control procedures.
Monitor revenue recognition and accounting accuracy.
Assist with internal and external audits.
Maintain organized documentation supporting financial transactions.
Partner with resort departments to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
Provide guidance on revenue posting procedures and best practices.
Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through process improvements and automation.
Provide backup and cross-functional support to the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions during month-end close, peak periods, or team member absences.
Assist Accounts Receivable with group and guest billing, folio follow-up, and payment application as needed.
Assist Accounts Payable with invoice coding, matching, and vendor statement reconciliation when additional coverage is helpful.
Build broad exposure across the accounting cycle — a strong foundation for growth within the Finance team.
