About The Position
The Radiology Department intends to hire 1 position at either the Imaging Technologist classification or Senior Imaging Technologist, based on the qualifications of the successful candidate. The University of Iowa Health Care department of Radiology is seeking a Senior Imaging Technologist with primary duties in Department of Radiography – CT. This role involves performing diagnostic imaging procedures utilizing advanced imaging technology/equipment, explaining examination procedures to patients and monitoring their status, and instructing students and staff on examination and equipment operations. Requirements
- For Senior Imaging Technologist: A Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or other Allied Health Sciences discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
- For Imaging Technologist: Successful completion of two-year or other approved program by Joint Review Committee in Radiologic Technology Education is required.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
- Current Permit to Practice issued by the Iowa Department of Public Health for all radiographers operating ionizing radiation emitting equipment is required.
- Current certification or eligibility for certification in diagnostic procedures by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is required.

- Recent work or clinical education experience in CT.

- Work or clinical education experience in a Level 1 trauma center.
Responsibilities
- Operate, adjust, and manipulate computerized electronic and mechanical components of computerized axial tomographic equipment.
- Maintain, operate and trouble-shoot and report equipment failures.
- Instruct trainees, students and staff on equipment operation and safety precautions.
- Explain examination process to patients.
- Ensure patients welfare and assist physician with medical procedures.
- Perform patient care techniques including skin preparation, I.V. placement, vital sign monitoring and recording, and basic life support; prepare and administer contrast material to patients.
- Maintain records and results of examinations and archive computer data.
- Plan daily, regular and STAT scheduling for efficient room utilization.
- Participate in on-call coverage.
- Assist with inventory, ordering supplies, and maintaining quality assurance in accordance with hospital, departmental and clinical unit standards.
- Participate in phantom, human and/or animal research.
- Maintain knowledge of technical developments, software updates, and related subjects by attending meetings, continuing education programs, and participation in professional organizations and/or review journals or publications.
- Perform quality assurance procedures and evaluate systems performance.
- Instruct and/or evaluate the clinical abilities and performance of Radiology Technology or sub-specialty students on a clinical rotation.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the public.
