Senior HVAC Maintenance Mechanic
About The Position
Ensures smooth and efficient operation of the HVAC systems, keeping the RDU Airport Authority facilities running like a well-tuned aircraft. This role navigates through a variety of maintenance challenges, much like a skilled pilot adapting to changing conditions, ensuring the safe and reliable function of our public facility. Additionally, the Senior Maintenance Mechanic plays a crucial role in weather-related operations, such as snow removal or hurricane preparedness, ensuring our 24/7 operation remains airborne without turbulence. This is a 2nd shift position, working from 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The schedule will be either Sunday through Thursday (with Friday and Saturday off) or Tuesday through Saturday (with Sunday and Monday off).
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- 5 years of experience in directly related trade
- Valid NC Driver’s License
- This position is considered Essential. This means this department and role are essential to operations and required to be on-site when there is an airport incident (emergency/weather).
Nice To Haves
- Associate degree or Apprentice Program
- 7 years of experience in directly related trade
- Valid NC State Heating Contractor License - H1 and H3 license
- CDL class B License (or ability to obtain within 9 months)
Responsibilities
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains direct expansion air conditioning units
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains a variety of pumps associated with HVAC, from 1 hp to 100 hp throughout the airport
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains the airport's AHUs and ventilation systems
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains boilers and hot water systems
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains chillers and chilled water systems
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains cooling towers
- Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains variable frequency drives
- Monitors and operates all RDU Building Management Systems
- Maintains and assists with HVAC water treatment
- Plays a crucial role in weather-related operations, such as snow removal or hurricane preparedness
