About The Position

The Prince William County Department of Social Services, Public Assistance Division, is seeking a full-time Senior Human Services Specialist to join their team. This role involves working directly with individuals and families to guide them through the eligibility determination process for SNAP and Medical Assistance programs. The position focuses on ABD MA eligibility determinations but also requires the ability to determine F&C/MAGI Medicaid eligibility. Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D.
  • 4 years of experience determining eligibility for public assistance programs in VACMS.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license and be eligible to drive for work.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 or more years of experience determining eligibility for SNAP using VaCMS.
  • 5 or more years of experience determining eligibility for Aged, Blind and Disabled (ABD) using VaCMS.
  • 4 or more years of experience determining eligibility for MAGI and Families & Children Medicaid using VaCMS.
  • 2 years of experience independently troubleshooting and successfully resolving VaCMS system issues.
  • Bilingual Spanish/English.

Responsibilities

  • Review applications and determine eligibility for SNAP and Medicaid in accordance with established program policies.
  • Conduct client interviews to gather and verify eligibility information.
  • Review applications and supporting documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Interpret and apply complex SNAP and Medicaid program policies.
  • Enter and maintain case information in the Virginia Department of Social Services' online eligibility system (VaCMS) and other state eligibility systems.
  • Make accurate and timely eligibility determinations.
  • Document case actions and eligibility determinations in accordance with policy standards.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Provide emergency human services work, including staffing emergency shelters in the event of a community disaster.
