About The Position

The Senior Human Resources Generalist will collaborate with hiring managers and interview teams to develop strategic interview plans, lead the selection process for open requisitions, and conduct interviews to provide detailed candidate evaluations. This role will also manage all leave of absences, including Short-Term Disability, FMLA, PFML, and other company, state, and federal leaves, partnering with third-party vendors. A key responsibility is ensuring company policies and practices comply with federal, state, and local employment laws, including record keeping, policy statements, non-discriminatory practices, and regulation compliance, as well as maintaining current legal postings. The position will assist in developing and implementing programs to enhance employee morale, such as Reward & Recognition, company celebrations, and social events. This role will work closely with Operations leaders to support daily business functions and partner with the Director of HR to streamline processes and improve HR data management through the HRIS. Additionally, the Senior HR Generalist will gather, report, and analyze HR metrics for the Executive Team, manage bi-annual employee satisfaction surveys, and serve as an HR representative on the Symmons NPS team. This role acts as a trusted HR resource for employees and managers, providing guidance on policies, workplace issues, and employment matters, while also identifying opportunities to improve HR processes and the employee experience. The position involves mediating and resolving employee relations issues, conducting investigations, and serving as the primary backup for bi-weekly payroll processing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Organizational Development, or a related field
  • 5 -7 years of HR Generalist experience
  • Demonstrated ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation practices, change management, performance management, federal and state employment laws.
  • Highly professional, enthusiastic and detail oriented individual.
  • Proven success of collaborative engagement throughout all levels in the organization.
  • Focused on building strong relationships and motivated by being an employee champion and change agent.
  • Previous experience with applicant tracking systems, HCM/HRIS systems such as UKG and iCIMS
  • Strong computer skills required; proficiency in MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Microsoft Outlook
  • A demonstrated track record of deepening cross-functional relationships and delivering results.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects or tasks while effectively prioritizing to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses.

Nice To Haves

  • SHRM-CP certification or PHR certification a plus
  • Previous experience in manufacturing is strongly preferred
  • Experience supporting both hourly and salaried employees

Responsibilities

  • Lead the selection process for all open requisitions.
  • Interview and provide detailed candidate evaluations.
  • Generate employment offer letters.
  • Manage all leave of absences such as Short-Term Disability, FMLA, PFML, and other company, state, and federal leaves.
  • Partner with third party vendors in managing leave requests as well as disability benefits.
  • Ensure that company policies and practices follow federal, state and local employment laws and procedures, including record keeping, policy statements, non-discriminatory practices, regulation compliance, etc.
  • Ensure that legal postings are current including wage-and-hour, EEO, OSHA, etc.
  • Assist with development, implementation and administration of company-wide programs and activities to enhance and reinforce employee morale such as Reward & Recognition, Company celebrations, and social events.
  • Work closely with Operations leaders to support daily business functions.
  • Work collaboratively with the Director of HR to streamline and/or automate processes and improve HR data management through the efficient use of the HRIS.
  • Gather, report and analyze HR metrics that are presented to the Executive Team to support business decisions.
  • Manage the administering of the bi-annual employee satisfaction surveys (ENPS) and partner with the Director of HR on reviewing actionable insights to improve employees’ experience.
  • HR representative on the Symmons NPS team.
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and managers, providing guidance on HR policies, workplace issues, and employment-related matters.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline HR processes and improve the employee experience.
  • Mediate and resolve employee relations issues; conduct thorough and objective investigations when necessary.
  • The primary backup for the bi-weekly payroll processing, including updates to employee files, bonus pay, vacation/sick pay and auto allowance.
