This position will play a critical role in supporting the HR department by administering human resources policies, procedures, and programs. This position will focus on key areas including policy and procedure development, employee relations, training, and compliance. The ideal candidate is a well-rounded HR professional with a strong understanding of employment law and best practices in people management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in HR roles, with exposure to policy administration, employee relations, and training.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and HR best practices.
  • Experience processing payroll and using HRIS platforms such as ADP, Paycom, and Paylocity.
  • Experience processing Payroll and benefit administration.
  • Understanding of California vs. Federal wage and hour law.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the HR and talent management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with HR and operational leadership to review, update, and maintain HR policies and procedures, ensuring alignment with local, state, and federal employment laws under the guidance of the HR Manager Director.
  • Maintain and communicate policy updates through formal channels, including email announcements and proper record keeping.
  • Lead the rollout of HR policy implementation across all departments via the HRIS platform, ensuring complete employee acknowledgment.
  • Provide policy interpretation and guidance to employees and managers to promote understanding and adherence to company standards.
  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for employee concerns, offering timely, confidential, and solution-oriented support.
  • Support the HR Director with investigating employee relations matters, including disciplinary issues, performance concerns, and workplace conflicts, ensuring fair and consistent resolution.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture by supporting initiatives that promote employee engagement, satisfaction, and well-being.
  • Support the creation of corrective action documents (e.g., write-ups, PIPs), provide them to managers, and track their completion and implementation.
  • Support with the launch of training programs covering HR compliance topics such as harassment prevention, diversity and inclusion, and workplace ethics.
  • Collaborate with the HR Director to develop engaging HR training and orientation materials.
  • Support the rollout of training programs on key compliance topics, including harassment prevention, diversity and inclusion, and workplace ethics.
  • Monitor training participation and completion, assess program effectiveness, and recommend areas for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date training records in accordance with legal and organizational requirements.
  • Launch and administer the organization’s performance review processes in alignment with company goals and timelines.
  • Ensure performance evaluations are consistently completed, tracked, and stored in accordance with HR policies and documentation standards.
  • Provide resources to managers and employees on the performance review process, goal setting, and feedback best practices.
  • Monitor the effectiveness of the performance review system and recommend improvements to foster growth, accountability, and development.
  • Analyze performance trends and partner with leadership to create action plans that support professional development and organizational performance.
  • Manage employee records and personnel documentation, ensuring secure storage, accuracy, and compliance with data protection regulations.
  • Monitor HR compliance with required training and certifications, ensuring accurate recordkeeping and timely reporting. Escalate persistent noncompliance to the compliance department and delegate follow-up actions as appropriate.
  • Assist in the preparation for and support of internal and external audits, including assembling required documentation and coordinating responses.
  • Process payroll-related HR information and maintain accurate employee data in HRIS platforms such as ADP or Paycom.
  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze feedback for trends, and provide actionable insights to leadership for improving retention and workplace culture.
  • Track and maintain turnover data through a turnover tracker; analyze and report on patterns to support strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure timely documentation and filing of resignations, terminations, and related personnel actions in accordance with company policy.
  • Prepare and communicate termination paperwork and separation information clearly and professionally to exiting employees.
  • Coordinate with relevant departments (IT, payroll, operations, recruiting) to ensure all internal stakeholders are notified of the employee’s departure and offboarding tasks are completed.
  • Act as back-up for Payroll Administrator in Processing of semimonthly payroll, including processing all approvals for entry of time, checking for errors, and preparing paychecks and direct deposit files using Paylocity.
  • Support special projects and company initiatives as requested by the HR Manager, HR Director or executive leadership.
  • Collaborate across departments to strengthen HR operations and employee experience.
