About The Position

This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Senior Human Factors Engineer to join us onsite in a closed area program with the LCE team in Tewksbury, MA. As a Senior Human Factors Engineer, your responsibilities will include: Leading development and execution of MIL-STD-1472 compliant Human Factors Engineering programs across major subsystems or full system segments. Serving as a technical authority for Human Factors analyses, ensuring compliance, consistency, and traceability across program efforts. Driving integration of Human Factors Engineering across IPTs, ensuring human performance, safety, and usability are fully embedded in system design decisions. Coordinating directly with customer Human Factors representatives to negotiate, interpret, and refine system requirements and ensure proper allocation across software, hardware, and test domains. Leading Human Factors contributions to system safety efforts, including hazard analyses, risk reduction strategies, and design mitigations aligned with MIL-STD-882 concepts. Owning Human Factors planning activities across program lifecycle phases from concept development through production, and sustainment. Providing technical direction and mentorship to early career engineers and cross functional teammates in Human Factors methods, analyses, and best practices. Briefing Human Factors status, risks, and design implications at technical reviews, design gates, and customer engagements. Translating complex operational and user requirements into validated human centered design inputs for engineering teams. Authoring and reviewing high visibility internal and customer facing deliverables including HFE reports, trade studies, usability assessments, and design recommendations. Collaborating across Systems Engineering, Software/Firmware, Electrical, Hardware, and Safety engineering teams to ensure end-to-end human system integration. Contributing to or leading development of advanced usability evaluations, cognitive task analyses, workload assessments, and human performance modeling approaches. Collaborating across multiple disciplines to gain a full understanding of product architecture and design. Interfacing with other engineering functions: Systems Engineering, Software or Firmware Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Hardware Engineering.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience
  • Experience in Human Factors Engineering, Human Systems Integration, or Safety Engineering in complex systems
  • Experience working with hardware and software integrated systems in a development environment
  • Experience performing or leading requirements decomposition, validation, or systems engineering activities
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for the required security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in defense, aerospace, or other safety-critical regulated environments
  • Experience applying MIL-STD-1472 and MIL-STD-882 concepts in program execution
  • Experience leading or contributing to usability testing, task analysis, workload assessment, or human performance modeling
  • Experience with user-centered design practices, including wireframing, prototyping, or HMI design collaboration
  • Experience with systems engineering lifecycle processes (e.g., requirements flow-down, verification & validation)
  • Experience influencing cross-functional teams in design tradeoffs involving human performance, safety, and operational effectiveness
  • Experience coordinating across multiple IPTs and stakeholders
