About The Position

Ramboll is seeking a Senior HSE Manager to provide senior health, safety, and environmental leadership across its EPC/EPCM project portfolio in the Americas. The role supports the safe delivery of complex engineering, procurement, construction management, commissioning, and turnover activities. It is responsible for establishing consistent HSE governance, aligning contractors and project teams, supporting high-risk work planning, and enabling effective execution across multiple concurrent projects. A remote option is available, with regular travel to project locations required. Applicants must already be authorized to work full-time in the United States; sponsorship is not available. The Senior HSE Manager will lead a portfolio-wide HSE approach, advise Project Directors and EPC/EPCM leadership, and translate Ramboll’s HSE program into practical project-level controls and routines. The role also establishes scalable HSE structures, standardized execution plans, contractor alignment and assurance processes, and consistent risk management across project phases. The manager provides oversight of high-risk work controls, incidents, regulatory compliance, site assurance, safety culture, and performance reporting while influencing project, client, and contractor stakeholders.

  • At least 10 years of progressive, on-site HSE leadership experience, including substantial large-scale EPC/EPCM project exposure.
  • Strong background supporting multi-contractor, high-risk industrial construction environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Experience supporting construction management delivery models in which HSE performance is delivered through contractor execution and strong client/contractor interface management.
  • Working knowledge of construction-phase HSE controls, contractor management, incident investigation, assurance, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to travel regularly to project locations and engage effectively with field teams, project leadership, clients, and contractors.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; sponsorship is not available.

Nice To Haves

  • Professional certification such as CSP, CMIOSH, NEBOSH, CRSP, or equivalent.
  • Experience in energy transition, power, renewables, industrial decarbonisation, chemicals, manufacturing, mining, or major infrastructure projects.
  • Experience supporting owner’s EPC/EPCM models across multiple concurrent projects.
  • International or remote project experience.

Responsibilities

  • Drive adoption of Ramboll’s HSE program and translate expectations into practical project behaviours, controls, and leadership routines.
  • Provide strategic HSE guidance during proposals and contract negotiations.

  • Set construction readiness expectations, including contractor mobilisation, competency assurance, risk review, and field execution controls.
  • Align HSE expectations, execution standards, and performance requirements across contractors, subcontractors, vendors, and third parties.
  • Lead contractor onboarding, alignment sessions, audits, and recurring performance reviews.
  • Ensure HSE requirements are incorporated into contracting strategies, procurement packages, bid documents, mobilisation plans, and contractor management processes.
  • Help project teams convert Ramboll and client HSE requirements into practical field requirements for contractors and subcontractors.
  • Provide governance and assurance over EPC/EPCM risk management, including hazard identification, construction risk assessments, high-risk work reviews, and site controls.
  • Support project HSE resources and leadership in establishing consistent risk management expectations while maintaining clear accountability.
  • Review and challenge controls for high-risk activities, including lifting, electrical work, confined space entry, work at height, ground disturbance, energisation, commissioning, and simultaneous operations.
  • Provide oversight, escalation support, and subject matter input for high-potential or higher-severity incidents; ensure investigations are completed and lessons are shared across relevant projects.
  • Conduct site visits, leadership engagements, and assurance reviews to verify that project HSE controls are effective, understood, and consistently applied.
  • Demonstrate visible HSE leadership and coach project and contractor leaders to strengthen safety behaviours, leading indicators, and accountability.
  • Promote open communication, psychological safety, learning, and continuous improvement across the project portfolio.
  • Oversee compliance with applicable HSE regulations, client requirements, and Ramboll standards; help translate requirements into practical controls and assurance activities.
  • Represent Ramboll in client audits, regulatory inspections, and EPC/EPCM governance meetings, and track actions through closure.
  • Establish consistent HSE performance reporting using leading and lagging indicators, and translate data into insights and recommendations for stakeholders.
