About The Position

As part of UT Dell Medicine's transformation into a world-class academic health enterprise, we are launching an Enterprise Human Capital Management (HCM) transformation centered on Workday, beginning in Fall 2026. To support this approximately 18-month implementation, we are recruiting both permanent and project-based HR and technology professionals who will help design, implement, and optimize Workday. This is a unique opportunity to build the foundational HR technology platform that will support the future University of Texas Dell Medical Center and the broader academic health enterprise. The Senior HRIS Analyst is responsible for leading the design, configuration, implementation, maintenance, and optimization of Human Resources Information Systems, with a primary focus on Workday. This role serves as a strategic partner to HR, Payroll, Finance, Information Technology, and operational leadership to ensure HR technology solutions align with organizational objectives and industry best practices. The Senior HRIS Analyst functions as a subject matter expert for HR systems, reporting, analytics, integrations, security, data governance, and process improvement initiatives. This position plays a key leadership role in the organization's Workday implementation and long-term optimization strategy through solution design, configuration oversight, data governance, stakeholder consultation, and project leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Science, Public Health, Health Information Management, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field
  • At least 7 year(s) of experience supporting HRIS, ERP, or enterprise business systems.
  • Experience with HRIS administration, reporting, and data management.
  • Experience supporting HR technology implementations or system upgrades.
  • Knowledge of HR business processes including talent acquisition, core HR, compensation, benefits, payroll, or talent management.
  • Experience gathering business requirements and supporting system testing.
  • Relevant education may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
  • Experience leading complex Workday implementations, upgrades, or optimization initiatives.
  • Experience serving as a functional lead or subject matter expert for one or more Workday modules.
  • Experience influencing stakeholders and managing enterprise-wide system enhancements.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting or implementing Workday in a large and complex organization.
  • Experience supporting multiple Workday functional areas (Core HCM, Recruiting, Compensation, Talent, Benefits, Payroll, Learning, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Leads the configuration, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimization of Workday modules, business processes, and security frameworks.
  • Collaborates with functional leads and implementation partners to gather requirements and translate business needs into system solutions.
  • Serves as the primary functional lead for assigned Workday modules and recommends strategic system enhancements.
  • Provides governance and oversight for configuration decisions to ensure consistency, scalability, and compliance.
  • Maintains organizational structures, security roles, workflows, and business process configurations.
  • Assists in evaluating system enhancements and new Workday functionality.
  • Supports release management activities, including testing and deployment of Workday updates.
  • Develops, maintains, and enhances Workday reports, dashboards, scorecards, and calculated fields.
  • Consults with senior leaders to develop workforce analytics and key performance indicators that support strategic decision-making.
  • Analyzes workforce data to support organizational decision-making and compliance requirements.
  • Produces recurring and ad hoc reports for HR leadership, Finance, and operational stakeholders.
  • Validates report accuracy and ensures consistency of workforce metrics.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve reporting efficiency and data accessibility.
  • Leads data conversion, cleansing, validation, reconciliation, and governance activities associated with Workday implementations and optimization efforts.
  • Oversees and coordinates complex inbound and outbound integrations between Workday and enterprise systems.
  • Monitors data quality and resolves data integrity issues.
  • Maintains data governance procedures and documentation standards.
  • Works closely with Information Technology and vendors to troubleshoot integration and system issues.
  • Leads complex HR technology projects, system upgrades, and optimization initiatives.
  • Provides project leadership, coordinating stakeholders, timelines, risks, and deliverables.
  • Evaluates business processes and recommends technology-enabled solutions that improve efficiency, compliance, and user experience.
  • Develops and executes test plans, test scripts, and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Identifies opportunities to streamline and automate HR processes.
  • Supports system implementation projects, upgrades, and optimization initiatives.
  • Documents business requirements, configuration decisions, and operational procedures.
  • Participates in project meetings and provides status updates to stakeholders.
  • Serves as a senior consultant and trusted advisor to HR, Payroll, Finance, Information Technology, and organizational leadership regarding HR technology strategy, system capabilities, and best practices.
  • Acts as an escalation point for complex system issues and guides stakeholders through resolution strategies.
  • Provides mentorship and knowledge sharing to HRIS team members and functional users.
  • Provides functional support and troubleshooting assistance to system users.
  • Develops training materials and job aids.
  • Delivers end-user training and knowledge transfer sessions.
  • Assists with change management and adoption activities during system implementations.

  • Retirement Plan Eligibility: The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
