About The Position

Lakeside HR Group has been engaged by our client to recruit for a Senior HR Generalist to join their team. The Senior HR Generalist is a hands-on role responsible for supporting day-to-day human resources operations, including employee relations, benefits administration, leave management, compliance, safety support, and HR program execution. This role serves as a primary resource for employees and leaders while ensuring consistent application of policies, strong employee engagement, and compliance with federal, state, and local employment regulations. Ideal candidates bring strong HR judgment, a high level of confidentiality, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, hourly workforce environment such as manufacturing, transportation, or distribution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5–7+ years of progressive HR experience, preferably in manufacturing, distribution, or an hourly workforce environment
  • Strong experience across employee relations, benefits, onboarding, compliance, and HR operations
  • Working knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
  • Experience with HRIS systems and Microsoft Office (Use PayCom currently)
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise strong professional judgment
  • Experience supporting employee relations investigations and issue resolution
  • Ability to work onsite with schedule flexibility as needed

  • Valid driver’s license

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary HR resource to employees, supervisors, and managers on policies, procedures, and workplace expectations
  • Support employee relations matters including investigations, documentation, and issue resolution
  • Handle employee complaints (e.g., harassment, discrimination, conduct concerns) and partner with leadership on appropriate follow-up
  • Provide guidance to managers on documentation, performance conversations, and employee communications
  • Maintain strict confidentiality across all employee and company information
  • Support employee engagement initiatives, recognition programs, events, and charitable activities
  • Coordinate and deliver new hire onboarding and orientation
  • Prepare onboarding materials (forms, training content, safety materials, system setup, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate employee records within HRIS and related systems
  • Manage employee lifecycle processes including onboarding, offboarding, and status changes
  • Maintain internal job postings and coordinate communication with operational leaders
  • Administer employee benefits including health, dental, 401(k), HSA, and related programs
  • Support open enrollment, benefit education, and employee inquiries
  • Manage benefit enrollments, changes, and terminations in applicable systems
  • Administer FMLA and other leave programs including tracking, documentation, and communication
  • Support employee wellness, recognition, and engagement programs
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment laws and regulatory requirements
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state laws including FMLA, ADA, FLSA, HIPAA, COBRA, and others
  • Audit employee files and documentation including I-9s and personnel files
  • Review and update policies and the Employee Handbook annually
  • Support training efforts related to compliance, workplace conduct, and documentation practices
  • Respond to unemployment claims and related state agency requests
  • Support workers’ compensation processes including reporting, documentation, and follow-up
  • Partner with leadership on safety initiatives and training efforts
  • Assist with employee safety training and promote a culture of safety engagement
  • Support payroll processes including documentation review and submission
  • Process production and operational paperwork
  • Provide general administrative support at the site level
  • Assist with front office coverage and operational support as needed
