About The Position

MacMore is seeking to fill a Senior Historian and Research Writer for a pending contract award with the Headquarters Air Force Reserve Command /PKA. This role is located at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia. The primary focus is on researching, developing, and quality-reviewing command-level historical products to preserve Air Force Reserve Command (AFRC) history and provide leadership with accurate, traceable, and defensible historical information. The position involves conducting archival research, synthesizing complex source material, and producing written products for command and executive audiences.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree
• Possesses a minimum of 8 years’ experience
• Ability to conduct disciplined archival research and synthesize complex source material into clear historical narratives.
• Ability to validate facts, maintain citations and traceability, and perform or respond to peer and editorial review.
• Ability to produce accurate written products for command and executive audiences.

Responsibilities

• Research, develop, and quality-review command-level historical products that preserve AFRC history and provide leadership with accurate, traceable, and defensible historical information.
• Conduct archival research across distributed repositories and validate source information.
• Develop command-level history chapters and other historical content identified by the Government.
• Respond to executive research inquiries with clear, decision-ready historical information.
• Maintain source and citation traceability and apply structured editorial review before submission.
• Coordinate with archival and digital-records personnel to locate, evaluate, and use relevant holdings.
• Support historical-production planning, backlog reduction, monthly progress reporting, and continuous improvement.
