About The Position

Caton Construction Group is seeking an experienced Senior Estimator to join their growing team for projects in Virginia and North Carolina. This role is based in Cary, North Carolina (Raleigh area). The Estimator is responsible for developing project estimates and schedules for civil construction projects ranging from $1M to $35M, evaluating contract requirements, and providing direction and assistance to junior team members.

Requirements

• Associates or bachelor's degree in a construction-related field
• 4 -7 years of experience as a civil construction estimator
• Experience with Dept of Transportation specifications
• Previous experience with estimating software HeavyBid or equivalent

Nice To Haves

• Experience with heavy highway, earthwork, bridge, and utility construction
• Previous work with NCDOT and VDOT

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret pertinent bid documents and plans
• Perform quantity takeoffs from civil construction plans and documents
• Develop the project scope and identify necessary disciplines
• Identify subcontractor roles
• Evaluate DBE participation to ensure project goals are met
• Identify constructability issues
• Identify value engineering opportunities
• Coordinate pre-bid activities and inquiries with the owner
• Develop and review project estimates and schedules ($1M-$30M)
• Provide direction and assistance to junior team members
• Develop and deliver project bid packages
