About The Position

McCormick is seeking a Sr Procurement Category Manager to join their team. This role is responsible for setting, developing, and deploying global strategies for raw material procurement, specifically within the Heat category, which represents a complex spend portfolio of over $50 million. The position involves leading category strategy development in partnership with regional buying teams and key stakeholders, developing long-term global capacity strategies to support company growth, and managing commodity insights and recommendations for key base materials. The role also includes developing sourcing strategies, leading negotiations for global agreements, and managing procurement aspects of PLP strategy. The Senior Heat Procurement Manager will play a critical role in the Global Heat Procurement team, contributing to the creation, sharing, and deployment of procurement best practices.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, ideally in business, supply chain, finance or similar fields of study
  • 8 years’ experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, or other applicable field
  • Expertise in global procurement category management & commodity price risk management.
  • Strong business acumen skills with the ability to communicate across seniority levels.
  • High learning agility to comprehend complex global supply chains and to learn & improve from first-time situations.
  • Ability to ask questions, learn, and scrutinize financial data sources, then distill down the information to a high level for executive communication(s).
  • Able to quickly distill and communicate information for a broad group of stakeholders.
  • Ability to communicate and influence with indirect and direct authority.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills.

Responsibilities

  • Set and lead the category strategy development, sign-off and execution for 2-3 global categories (as phase 1), in partnership with regional buying teams and with key stakeholders.
  • Develop long-term global capacity strategy and action plan to support MKC growth plans.
  • Develop, manage and communicate commodity insights & recommendations for key base materials.
  • Develop sourcing strategy/recommendation for base materials &, as appropriate, lead negotiations for global agreements.
  • Lead procurement aspects of Packaging PLP strategy into action with key senior stakeholders.
  • Create & lead global packaging steering committee for alignment and oversight of strategies & actions.
  • Lead a global packaging procurement community to create, share & deploy best practices consistently.
  • Develop the capability of the buyers through formal and informal mentoring/coaching.
