About The Position

The Senior Health & Safety Specialist will develop, implement, and continuously improve health and safety programs, policies, procedures, and standards. This role partners with manufacturing, maintenance, engineering, and leadership teams to identify, assess, and mitigate workplace hazards and occupational health risks. The specialist will conduct safety audits, risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and workplace inspections to ensure regulatory and company compliance. They will lead incident investigations, root cause analyses, and corrective action planning to prevent recurrence of injuries, illnesses, and near misses. The position involves monitoring and analyzing safety performance metrics, injury trends, workers’ compensation data, and regulatory reporting requirements. This role ensures compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, and industry best practices. The specialist will coordinate regulatory inspections and serve as a liaison with health and safety agencies and external stakeholders. They will develop and deliver health and safety training programs and support emergency preparedness, response planning, and crisis management activities. The role also facilitates safety committees, leads projects independently, supports continuous improvement initiatives, and utilizes advanced analytical skills to develop innovative solutions. Building strong relationships through effective communication and collaboration is key.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive health and safety experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or heavy-production environment.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety compliance requirements.
  • Experience conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
  • Experience leading safety audits, risk assessments, and hazard identification programs.
  • Knowledge of industrial ergonomics, machine guarding, lockout/tagout (LOTO), confined space, hot work, and contractor safety programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver safety training to teammates at all levels of the organization.
  • Experience managing OSHA recordkeeping, injury and illness reporting, and regulatory documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and data analysis tools.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and project management skills.
  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with teammates, leaders, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and respond to off-shift safety incidents, emergencies, or audits as needed.
