About The Position

The Sr. Health & Safety Manager – Safety Compliance for Penske Logistics will lead business-wide safety compliance, risk reduction, litigation support, and technology-enabled process improvement efforts across transportation and warehouse operations. The position is responsible for strengthening compliance with the creation and oversight of sound business processes, improving governance and compliance of key safety programs, and translating regulatory, operational, and litigation-related insights into practical risk-reduction actions. This position will collaborate with Operations, Safety, Human Resources, Legal, Risk Management, Fleet, Information Technology, and other internal and external stakeholders. The role will serve as the primary Penske Logistics liaison with the PTS Litigation team for litigation-related support, manage discovery and information requests, ensure timely completion of deliverables, and serve as a corporate representative or subject matter expert when required. The position does not direct legal strategy, settlement decisions, or legal advice. The Sr. Manager will also remain on the leading edge of approved artificial intelligence applications, identifying and implementing practical uses of AI within Safety and safety-related operational processes. The role will lead and small team of project leaders and may accomplish work through direct assignment, cross-functional teams, or appropriate delegation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for enterprise safety compliance programs supporting both transportation and warehouse operations.
  • Monitor applicable federal, state, provincial, and local safety requirements and coordinate the evaluation and implementation of regulatory changes.
  • Lead governance and continuous improvement for key compliance areas, including DQ Files, Hours of Service, drug and alcohol testing, CSA performance, and OSHA-related requirements.
  • Coordinate internal and external compliance audits, track findings and corrective actions, and ensure timely closure of identified gaps.
  • Lead the development, review, maintenance, and governance of safety policies, procedures, standards, and related documentation.
  • Establish meaningful measures and reporting that provide visibility to compliance performance, emerging risks, and corrective-action progress.
  • Serve as the primary Penske Logistics liaison with the Corporate Litigation on litigation support matters.
  • Manage and coordinate discovery requests, document identification and collection, information requests, and other litigation-related deliverables.
  • Maintain organized tracking of litigation support requests, owners, due dates, status, and completion to support timely and accurate responses.
  • Coordinate with Safety, Operations, Human Resources, Fleet, and other stakeholders to obtain responsive information and records.
  • Serve as a designated corporate representative or subject matter expert when required, with appropriate preparation and guidance from Legal.
  • Serve as an advanced user of approved AI technologies, applying them to improve safety compliance, process efficiency, analysis, documentation, communication, and overall effectiveness.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement practical AI-enabled solutions that eliminate manual effort, improve decision-making, and enhance business outcomes.
  • Utilize AI to analyze information, generate insights, automate routine activities, and improve the quality, consistency, and speed of deliverables.
  • Ensure responsible and compliant use of AI by adhering to company policies, governance standards, data privacy requirements, and information security expectations.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a small team of project leaders through clear objectives, regular feedback, workload prioritization, and professional development.
  • Ensure work products and processes are clear, concise, practical, and specific about expected behaviors, responsibilities, and actions.
  • Use meaningful metrics to guide priorities, evaluate effectiveness, and communicate business impact.
  • Build productive relationships across functions and levels of management and influence stakeholders without relying solely on direct authority.
