About The Position

The New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute has established the Uninsured Care Programs (UCP). The programs provide access to medical services and medications for all New York State residents with or at risk of acquiring HIV/AIDS. The programs bridge the gap between Medicaid coverage and private insurance and serve as a transition to Medicaid by providing interim assistance to individuals eligible for but not yet enrolled in Medicaid or assistance in meeting spenddown requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and two years of experience contributing to the coordination of program activities in a public health, health regulatory, or human services related program; OR an Associate's degree in a related field and four years of such experience; OR six years of such experience.
  • A Master's degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Valid and unrestricted authorization to work in the U.S. is required.
  • The selected candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the official work location specified in the job posting and must also be located in or willing to relocate to one of the following states: New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Vermont, or Massachusetts, prior to hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Work experience providing services to people living with HIV/AIDS.
  • At least two years of experience supervising staff in a health care, public health, health/human service and/or health regulatory program or community-based organization.
  • At least one year of experience performing quality assurance activities, including the development, implementation and oversight of policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Monitoring provider enrollment
  • Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge of the eligibility criteria and covered services for the UCP and other health care entitlement programs
  • Performing financial management activities and accounting activities
  • Coordinating administration and operations
  • Performing program outreach
  • Serving as a resource regarding the day-to-day operations of UCP Admin unit activities
  • Supervising staff
  • Performing other related duties as assigned
