The Center for Health Equity and Community Wellness (CHECW) is dedicated to eliminating racial and other inequities that lead to premature mortality. CHECW operates with a strong foundation in historical and structural analysis, aiming to increase awareness of the harm caused by centuries of racist and unjust policies, and to advocate for redress for the most affected communities in New York City. The center collaborates with community, faith-based, and healthcare organizations to address health inequities across community and healthcare systems. CHECW's work encompasses social determinants of health, including environmental and commercial factors, and addresses both upstream and downstream influences to enhance the health and well-being of New Yorkers. The division includes several bureaus, such as the Bureau of Equitable Health Systems (BEHS), which focuses on improving equity in healthcare delivery at all levels through policy, evidence, and expertise. The Office of Healthcare Systems Strategy and Accountability (OHSSA) within BEHS drives innovative initiatives in healthcare delivery, financing, and strategy. The Bureau of Equitable Health Systems is seeking a Senior Healthcare Economist to lead analytical work for OHSSA's Healthcare Accountability portfolio.
