Senior Hardware Power Engineer

Hewlett Packard Enterprise•Sunnyvale, CA
•$140,500 - $285,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Senior Hardware Power Engineer is an individual contributor on HPE’s Power Systems Development team, developing board-mount and front-end power systems for networking hardware. The role designs, analyzes, develops, modifies, and evaluates electrical and electronic parts, subsystems, and integrated circuitry related to power delivery. It conducts feasibility, design-margin, and validation analyses for new and modified power supply designs, and provides power expertise to the architecture development of new hardware systems. Board-mount responsibilities include defining design requirements, selecting critical components, designing and simulating power circuit blocks, schematic capture, coordinating with board-level and PCB layout engineers, and performing prototype bring-up and characterization testing through manufacturing introduction. Front-end power development includes system-level conceptualization, power-supply module functional specifications, and the engineering development cycle with HPE suppliers, including prototype testing, system integration, documentation, and manufacturing support. The engineer prepares or reviews test plans, supervises testing, leads technical peer reviews of their work, and participates in reviews of teammates’ work. At the senior level, the role also mentors less-experienced power engineers, develops technology initiatives, and participates in HPE patent applications. The position is onsite in Sunnyvale at least three days per week, potentially more depending on business needs. Assignments are directed by the Power Systems Development Manager.
