Senior Hardware Engineer

AGCO•Sunnyvale, CA

About The Position

PTx is investing in next-generation Linux-class hardware across its agriculture technology platform. The Senior Hardware Engineer will own Linux-capable embedded boards end-to-end, from schematic capture through PCB layout, for products deployed in demanding off-highway environments. The role anchors the platform-wide Linux hardware roadmap and works daily with firmware, mechanical, compliance, and test engineering teams based in Tremont, Illinois.

Requirements

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent technical degree.
  • At least 3 years of professional hardware design experience, including some experience with Linux-class SoC boards.
  • Demonstrated single-owner experience with both schematic capture and PCB layout for production hardware.
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer.
  • Direct experience with DDR3 or DDR4 routing, signal integrity analysis, and timing closure.
  • Working knowledge of high-speed serial interfaces, including USB 3.x, PCIe Gen2/3, MIPI CSI/DSI, and Gigabit Ethernet.
  • Power architecture experience, including PMIC selection, rail sequencing, and low-noise rail design.
  • EMC/EMI design and pre-compliance debug experience.

Nice To Haves

  • MS in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 7 years of professional hardware design experience.
  • Direct experience with NXP i.MX 95 or comparable application-class SoCs, such as TI Sitara, Qualcomm, or Renesas RZ.
  • Experience designing for Power over Ethernet (PoE / PoE+) and/or 100BaseT1 (Automotive 2 Wire Ethernet).
  • Experience with tablet-size display technology.
  • Experience with high-volume hardware deployed in harsh environments, such as off-highway, agriculture, automotive, or industrial settings.
  • Experience working in a PLM environment such as Windchill, Teamcenter, or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and capture schematics for Linux-class embedded boards built around application-class SoCs such as NXP i.MX, TI Sitara, or comparable processors.
  • Perform PCB layout in Altium Designer, including DDR4 routing, high-speed serial interfaces, and mixed-signal partitioning.
  • Own power architecture, including PMIC selection, rail sequencing, brown-out behavior, and low-noise rail planning for sensitive analog and high-speed digital circuits.
  • Apply design-for-manufacturing (DFM), design-for-test (DFT), and EMC best practices to deliver production boards.
  • Drive boards from concept to production while balancing design rigor and schedule pressure, with minimal respins.
  • Build reusable reference designs and design patterns to accelerate downstream product development across the platform.
