About The Position

This role involves creating and maintaining electronic component libraries, designing circuit schematics and PCB layouts, and ensuring designs comply with industry standards and regulations. The engineer will also train other teams on tool usage and mentor them in component creation. The position is hybrid, requiring 3 days in the office and 2 days remote, with the need to report to a local office.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience as a Software Engineer, Technical Leader, Practice Leader, or related role.
  • Five years of experience with Automotive Electronic Control Unit (ECU) design and processes.
  • Five years of experience with electronic components, their specifications, and their interactions within a circuit.
  • Three years of experience with schematic capture and PCB layout design using industry-standard EDA tools including Altium Designer, Cadence Allegro, Eagle, and Mentor Graphics.
  • Three years of experience with Hardware in loop simulation systems and testing.
  • Three years of experience with circuit design and PCB layout including IPC standards.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain datasheet or technical documentation for electronic components.
  • Create schematic symbols using EDA tool's symbol editor.
  • Create PCB footprints (land patterns) using EDA tool's footprint editor.
  • Use EDA tool knowledge and APIs to create a comprehensive and efficient part request form.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive electronic component library.
  • Create circuit schematics using schematic capture tools like Mentor Graphics.
  • Develop PCB layouts using software tools like Mentor Graphics PADS.
  • Ensure schematics and PCB layouts comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., IPC standards).
  • Train and mentor engineering teams on tool, symbol, cell, and schematic creation.
  • Create and develop hardware components and systems.
  • Identify and resolve issues in hardware designs.
  • Ensure designs comply with relevant regulations and standards (e.g., safety and environmental guidelines).
