The Optics Electronics Department is an electrical engineering organization that designs, sustains, and integrates advanced electrical subsystems for airborne, naval, and land‑based military applications. We are seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer will lead the test and integration of a new circuit card assembly and provide ongoing support for factory production of advanced Electro‑Optical/Infrared (EO/IR) products. Work includes design updates for circuit card assemblies, troubleshooting and lab‑based problem solving, supplier coordination, and leading technical efforts to mature and deliver complex electrical hardware within a multidisciplinary team environment. This role plays a key part in resolving factory and supplier hardware issues, driving redesigns and updates, and serving as a technical interface to customers and program teams. This position is onsite in our McKinney, TX location.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience in a production assembly and test environment.
  • Experience with test procedures in relation to contractual performance requirements.
  • Experience with schematic capture, block diagrams, and parts lists for complex electronic systems.
  • Experience reading drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting electrical circuits and documenting test results.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Active and existing security clearance required after day 1.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiar with the EODAS Sensor configurations, capabilities, interfaces, and operation in a production assembly and test environment.
  • Experience with Mentor Graphics XPedition or similar schematic‑capture tools.
  • Proficiency working in a lab environment using industry‑standard test equipment and tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, digital multimeters (DMMs), power supplies, signal generators, and vector network analyzers.
  • Knowledge of Simulation and Analysis tools.
  • Experience in data analysis for identifying trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem‑solving abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the test, integration, and qualification testing effort of the Next Gen Electro-Optical Distributed Aperture System (EO DAS) circuit card assembly.
  • Help lead redesigns and resolve obsolescence‑driven hardware issues, working across factory, suppliers, and program teams.
  • Implement new hardware to improve Fiber Optic testing.
  • Troubleshooting systems failing test, identifying failure cause, documenting, and dispositioning hardware for repair.
  • Serve as the primary electrical engineering interface for the customer and program teams, communicating risks, status, and technical decisions.
  • Leadership of and participation in teams tasked with resolving technical issues, improving test yields, and reducing test cycle time.
  • Recognizing areas for production metric improvement (e.g., cycle time, yields, hours per unit) and develop plans to implement those improvements.
