About The Position

The Senior Group Leader plans and coordinates work, trains and motivates team members, and monitors and evaluates their performance. The role ensures team members can safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations. It also ensures equipment and resources are appropriate for safe, effective work; production output matches orders; customer requirements are met; and shipments are fulfilled. The Senior Group Leader promotes continuous improvement, quality practices, and workplace safety and housekeeping standards. This position directly supervises five or more employees and indirectly supervises five or more employees. Supervisory duties include interviewing, hiring, training, planning and assigning work, directing and evaluating performance, recognizing and disciplining employees, and addressing complaints and resolving problems in accordance with company policies and applicable laws.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED, or one to three months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience supervising in an automotive or logistics-based industry.
Demonstrated proficiency in supervising and motivating subordinates.
Commitment to excellence and high standards.
Basic competence in subordinates’ duties and tasks.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
Ability to manage priorities and workflow, handle multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
Versatility, flexibility, and willingness to work amid changing priorities.
Proficiency with MS Office, SAP, and ADP.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with diverse individuals at all organizational levels.
Good judgment and ability to make timely, sound decisions.
Ability to understand safety requirements and cautions.
Ability to perform the physical labor necessary for the role.

Responsibilities

Plan and coordinate work, and train and motivate team members.
Monitor and evaluate team member performance, including accuracy of commodity sequencing and delivery.
Ensure team members can safely operate material handling equipment to move materials to and from storage configurations.
Maintain equipment structure and level to accomplish tasks safely and effectively.
Provide appropriate equipment for safe transport and storage of materials.
Ensure production output matches orders, customer requirements are respected, and shipments are met.
Promote continuous improvement and ensure work conforms to established build and quality practices.
Identify and eliminate safety and housekeeping hazards to minimize workplace accidents.
Follow company health, safety, and environmental procedures.
Interview, hire, and train employees; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline employees; address complaints; and resolve problems.
Perform other related duties assigned by management.
