About The Position

Works under minimal supervision to provide administrative support to researchers by identifying funding opportunities, assisting with preparation and processing of proposals, negotiating contracts, receiving awards, and assisting in administration. The Senior Grants Specialist in Pediatrics will work closely with assigned divisions and faculty to submit, process, review, receive and administer research grants and awards. While also monitoring award agreements, subcontracts and grant agreements throughout the life of the award. The Senior Grants Specialist will be the primary point of contact for their faculty regarding sponsored programs, applications, new application processes, and any reporting that should take place for the received awards. This role is expected to work under minimal supervision while providing this administrative support to the researchers/faculty and maintain a level of professionalism, collaboration, resourcefulness and practicality. Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business administration, public administration, or related field.
  • 4 years of experience in business or public administration with emphasis on customer service in financial or contracting position.
  • Applicants without the stated degree, but with significant additional professional applicable experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Maintain a level of professionalism, collaboration, resourcefulness and practicality.

Responsibilities

  • Identify funding opportunities and application procedures.
  • Provide guidance to researchers for proposal development and submission, ensuring adherence to sponsor and university guidelines.
  • Provide grants management support, including negotiating and processing awards, interpreting award conditions, obtaining approvals for award modifications, and completing required reports.
  • Negotiate contracts with various agencies (state and federal government, private organizations), pharmaceutical companies, and biotechnological companies.
  • Draft contracts following state laws and Board of Regents' guidelines.
  • Provide working supervision to Grants and Contracts Specialist and administrative positions.
  • Monitor award agreements, subcontracts, and grant agreements throughout the life of the award.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for faculty regarding sponsored programs, applications, new application processes, and reporting for received awards.
